Our strength lies in unity, our progress in co-operation, and our prosperity in working together.

I joined H.E. Wyclife Ambetsa Oparanya, Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and MSMEs, at Kipsoen SDA Church in Kapakateny Ward, Mt. Elgon, for a Shirikiana SACCO sensitization programme.

I encouraged our members to embrace the SACCO, save consistently, access affordable credit and make use of available opportunities to grow their livelihoods.

Through Shirikiana SACCO, we can build stronger and more financially empowered communities.

Later on, alongside the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Wycliffe Oparanya, and Sirisia MP Hon. John Waluke, we engaged residents of Kabuchai Constituency during a Shirikiana sensitization exercise at Busakala Friends Church.

The engagement offered an opportunity to listen to our people, share ideas and create awareness on the benefits of co-operatives and available opportunities to improve livelihoods.

I appreciate CS Oparanya for engaging directly with the community and championing economic empowerment at the grassroots. I encourage bungoma residents to embrace unity, participate actively in co-operatives and make use of the opportunities available to them.

Together, we can turn collective action into better livelihoods, stronger families and empowered communities.

This morning, I had the honour of joining Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, in a consultative engagement with elders from Sirisia Sub-County.

The meeting, hosted by Sirisia Member of Parliament Hon. John Waluke at his home, provided a valuable opportunity to listen to our elders, share ideas and reflect on matters affecting our community.

We discussed the importance of unity, collaboration and inclusive development, while exploring practical ways of improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for our people.

Such consultations strengthen the connection between leadership and the people we serve and help us build a better future together.

Later in the day, I joined the CECM for Trade, Energy and Industrialization, Arch. Douglas Sasita, together with his family, friends and residents of Talitia Village, Kabula Ward, Bumula Sub-County, in bidding farewell to his late father, Mzee Vincent Wekesa Muroni.

It was a solemn moment as we gathered to celebrate the life of Mzee Vincent Wekesa, honour his legacy and stand with the family during this difficult period of loss.

I also used the opportunity to call on leaders from Bungoma to embrace unity, put aside our differences and work together for the progress and development of our county. Our unity remains key to building a stronger and more prosperous Bungoma.

May the memories of Mzee Vincent Wekesa’s life continue to inspire, comfort and unite the family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Today, I joined the family, friends and colleagues of the late Mildred Nelima during her send-off at her home in Sirisia Sub-County.

Mildred was a dedicated member of staff who served in the Office of the Bungoma County First Lady, H.E. Margaret Makelo. Her commitment, humility and service touched many lives.

I conveyed my heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time. May God grant them strength and comfort, and may Mildred’s soul rest in eternal peace.

Today, I was honoured to launch Phase II of the Bungoma Inclusive Climate and Resilience Project at Joy Valley Kimatuni Special School in Bumula Sub-County. The launch brought together stakeholders, partners and persons living with disabilities from Tongaren, Webuye West and Bumula to share their experiences and priorities.

Climate change continues to affect our communities through floods, droughts and unpredictable weather, with vulnerable groups often bearing the greatest burden. We must ensure persons living with disabilities are included in climate resilience programmes, disaster preparedness and emergency response.

I call on leaders and residents to separate politics from development and unite in supporting projects that improve the lives of our people. Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Kenneth Lusaka, the County Government of Bungoma remains committed to inclusive development. I urge communities, partners and organisations representing persons with disabilities to work closely with us to build resilient communities where no one is left behind.
