From Lavender Ojalla (BALOZI)

The Suba Council of Elders holds a sacred and central place in preserving, safeguarding, and enriching the culture and heritage of the Abasuba people. Its membership is made up of highly respected and distinguished individuals whose wisdom anchors our community.

Today, I was deeply humbled to receive, for the first time, an invitation to attend their revered council meeting. Although I was unable to be present due to prior commitments in Nairobi, the invitation itself stands as one of the greatest honors I have ever received from the Suba community. It is a profound recognition that I hold with immense gratitude and respect.

“Selection of who sits in these meetings are done through careful and numerous considerations that go beyond age alone”…..An elder remarked in our communication.
