KARURI MUNICIPALITY | EL NIÑO PREPAREDNESS

Ahead of the October–February rains, a joint county team led by County Secretary Mr. Maingi, Chief of Staff Mr. Njuguna, Waziri David Kuria and Waziri Dr. Elias Maina assessed flood-prone areas across Karuri Municipality.

Municipal Manager Mr. Muraya led the local preparedness team, with the team also inspecting Njoro Road, now 80% complete and passable, under the leadership of Chief Officer for Roads Ms. Julie Waweru.

DRAINAGE CLEARING | KARURI MUNICIPALITY

The Boresha Barabara Programme is taking proactive measures ahead of the anticipated El Niño rains, with the ongoing clearing of the Banana Town–Muchatha Main Drainage to improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding.

The exercise was inspected by the Karuri Municipality team led by Municipal Manager Mr. Muraya, in line with the directive of H.E. Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, Governor of Kiambu County.

Under Governor Wamatangi’s leadership, preparation is being prioritised before the rains arrive—not after. From roads to drainage and other essential infrastructure, the focus remains on protecting residents, keeping communities accessible and ensuring Kiambu is ready.

RUAKA LEVEL 3 HOSPITAL | NDENDERU WARD

A new chapter in healthcare delivery for residents of Ndenderu Ward, Kiambaa Sub-County.

The newly completed Ruaka Level Three Hospital is now fully equipped with modern digital X-ray and ultrasound services, a theatre, laboratory, maternity wing, as well as general and paediatric wards.

The facility is part of the 32 hospitals — six Level Four and 26 Level Three — being delivered across Kiambu County under the administration of H.E. Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, expanding access to modern healthcare closer to residents.

For the Wamatangi administration, the focus remains clear: build, equip and operationalise facilities that bring essential services closer to the people.

NJORO ROAD | MUCHATHA WARD, KARURI MUNICIPALITY

The CECM for Roads, Transport, Public Works & Utilities, Eng. Newton Itobi, accompanied by Chief Officer for Roads, Ms. Julie Waweru, Municipal Manager Mr. Muraya, and area MCA Hon. Kenneth Karanja alias KK, today engaged residents along Njoro Road in Muchatha Ward.

The team explained the various stages involved in road improvement, highlighting that the ongoing works are still at the initial stages. Current activities include material dumping, spreading, shaping and compaction as the road is prepared for subsequent phases.

Residents were taken through the process to help them understand what it takes to transform a road from the initial groundwork into a fully improved route.

KARURI MUNICIPALITY MULTI-AGENCY DISASTER PREPAREDNESS STRATEGY MEETING

Karuri Municipality held a Multi-Agency Disaster Preparedness Strategy Meeting at the DCC’s Office in Kiambaa, chaired jointly by the DCC and Municipal Manager Mr. Muraya.

The meeting brought together Heads of Departments from both the National and County Governments, Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs), Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs, to strengthen preparedness, coordination and response mechanisms across Karuri Municipality.

As the region prepares for the possibility of El Niño conditions, the multi-agency team is taking proactive measures to protect lives, property and livelihoods and ensure timely response should emergencies arise.

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, the team remains alert, coordinated and ready. Karuri is prepared. Wamatangi’s team has got this.
