Today, we partnered with the Save a Woman from Fistula Foundation, an initiative led by Sharon Korir, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a courageous fistula survivor who endured the condition for four years. Her story of resilience and dedication continues to inspire thousands of women across the country to seek treatment and reclaim their dignity.
The outreach brought together women from all our subcounties, who turned up in impressive numbers to undergo screening. In addition to fistula assessment, comprehensive screening for other conditions; including Tuberculosis (TB), was also conducted to ensure a holistic approach to women’s health.
The medical exercise was professionally facilitated by a committed team of doctors and nurses from Kericho County Referral Hospital (KCRH) and Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital in Eldoret. Their expertise and compassion ensured that every woman received quality care and proper guidance.
A key highlight of this partnership is that all women and girls diagnosed with fistula will be referred to Gynocare Hospital in Eldoret for FREE corrective surgery. This life-changing intervention restores not only health but hope, dignity, and the ability to live a productive life.
I take this opportunity to urge anyone suffering in silence, or anyone who may know a woman or girl quietly battling this condition, to come forward and seek help at any nearby health facility. Fistula is treatable, and no one deserves to endure the pain, shame, or isolation that often comes with it. Early intervention saves lives and restores livelihoods.
Together, we are building a community where women’s health is prioritized, their voices are heard, and their well-being is safeguarded.
