Today, we partnered with the Save a Woman from Fistula Foundation, an initiative led by Sharon Korir, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a courageous fistula survivor who endured the condition for four years. Her story of resilience and dedication continues to inspire thousands of women across the country to seek treatment and reclaim their dignity.

The outreach brought together women from all our subcounties, who turned up in impressive numbers to undergo screening. In addition to fistula assessment, comprehensive screening for other conditions; including Tuberculosis (TB), was also conducted to ensure a holistic approach to women’s health.

The medical exercise was professionally facilitated by a committed team of doctors and nurses from Kericho County Referral Hospital (KCRH) and Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital in Eldoret. Their expertise and compassion ensured that every woman received quality care and proper guidance.

A key highlight of this partnership is that all women and girls diagnosed with fistula will be referred to Gynocare Hospital in Eldoret for FREE corrective surgery. This life-changing intervention restores not only health but hope, dignity, and the ability to live a productive life.

I take this opportunity to urge anyone suffering in silence, or anyone who may know a woman or girl quietly battling this condition, to come forward and seek help at any nearby health facility. Fistula is treatable, and no one deserves to endure the pain, shame, or isolation that often comes with it. Early intervention saves lives and restores livelihoods.

Together, we are building a community where women’s health is prioritized, their voices are heard, and their well-being is safeguarded.

After the BBC expose (S*x For Work, the true cost of our tea), Hon Beatrice Kemei sought a statement from the chairperson Parliamentary Departmental Committee on Labour, regarding the sexual harassment of female workers in the tea estates.

Today on her behalf, and on invitation of Browns Plantations Kenya (BBK), County Manager Patrick Cheruiyot attended a stakeholder engagement forum on Human Rights and Due Diligence (HRDD) to take stock on the milestones and safeguard measures the multinational companies have taken in implementation of Parliamentary Labour committee reports and recommendations.

Browns Plantations formerly Finlay's K. LTD has made tremendous steps towards gender perspective and implementation, in a view to promoting equality and a safe working environment to its workers.

Risk assessment policies, stakeholder engagements, gender mainstreaming strategies and general organisational commitment to respect to human rights are among the institutional safeguards which BPK has taken.

Office of the Woman Representative-Kericho County will continually and with keen interest follow up the gender issues raised in the parliamentary committee report to ensure protection of women working in our tea estates.

In the earlier days, Coffee industry in Kenya was one of the leading foreign exchange earners but lost its pride with time.
The Kenya kwanza government since it's assumption to office have managed to set up drastic measures to improve the coffee market and incorporate it in the leading economic frontiers.
In the recent past, Kenyan coffee has found its way to the leading restaurants both in the east, middle east and the west.
In a few years, the coffee industry will be the Kenyan farm Gold, and it's in the realization of this that our office intend to support farmers in the coffee growing belts across Kericho County grow this magic crop.
So far, over 600 vulnerable farmers have benefited from this initiative.
We will ensure that every farmer in the coffee belts across Kericho County access quality seedlings and market thus boosting their income. We will also partner with coffee millers in a bid to foster the growth of this sector.
We implore on the well wishes to join us in this journey for if there is a right time to do this is now.
