MPESA FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP ON HEALTH SERVICE PROVISION

Thousands of Soin Sigowet Sub County residents thronged the venue at Kipsitet Comprehensive School grounds for the Free Medical Camp organized by the MPESA Foundation in collaboration with the County Government of Kericho.

H.E. Dr. Erick K. Mutai (PhD), Governor was at Kipsitet Primary School grounds to officially open the exercise and assess the ongoing works. He thanked the MPESA Foundation for the noble partnership with the County Government aimed at improving preventive, diagnostic, and curative healthcare in Kericho County for sustainability.

The one day event served approximately 5000 residents by close of business today 27th June 2026 and contributed immensely to various efforts by the County Government of Kericho to enhance Universal Health Coverage.

The camp provided such services as general consultations, screening for fistula, diabetes, hypertension and chronic diseases, PWD assessments, cancer screening, laboratory testing, drug dispensing, eye check up, dental care, children medical reviews among others.

DELIVERY OF DRUGS AND ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES

The county health department continues to improve on reorder times and stock deliveries across the health facilities in Kericho to complement efforts towards attaining Universal Healthcare provision.

These are the deliveries being delivered to the Kipwastuiyo Health Center in Cheplanget Ward of Kericho County today, Wednesday, 15th April 2026.

As always, we endeavour to improve on our service delivery for the benefit of Wananchi.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN KERICHO COUNTY

To enhance coverage and increase student numbers joining the Vocational Training Centres in Kericho, H.E. the Governor continues to adopt multipronged strategies including construction of new VTCs, recruitment of more instructors, and awarding of Scholarships/ bursaries under the Equalizer Vocational Training Programme.

The future of technical training and learning of new skills to enhance job market access as well as self-employability is bright.

LAUNCH OF COUNTYWIDE FMD MASS VACCINATION

Today, H.E. Dr. Erick K. Mutai (PhD) launched the countywide mass vaccination of livestock against the deadly Foot and Mouth Disease that often deplete stock of livestock and negatively impacts farmer returns.

The programme is supported under the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Programme(NAVCDP) and targets over 233,000 animals across Kericho County. To ensure effectiveness the Department of Agriculture has roped in Animal Health Assistants and Agripreneurs stationed in all Wards of the County with close supervision and coordination of the programme assisted by an integrated management system harnessing e-vouchers.

TECHNICAL EDUCATION IS THE MASTER KEY

Indeed if education is the key to success, then technical education is the master key to steer Kericho County to greater heights of socio-economic development. In our dream to attain first world country status and be like Singapore, indeed, technical education plays a key role in the journey.

H.E. Dr Erick K. Mutai (PhD) is a strong believer in education as an equalizer. Several targeted investments in Vocational Training Centres now numbering 13 in Kericho have yielded fruits. Furthermore, the strategic partnership with KCB Foundation in the Equalizer Scholarships Programme has seen the annual graduation of more than 10,000 students from our VTCs.

Equally, most of the graduates have been able to get jobs locally and abroad given their competitive technical skills. The Programme also through its component of awarding toolkits for varied trades including welding and fabrication, food and beverage production, hairdressing and beauty, electrical installation, masonry, plumbing, motor vehicle mechanics, etc. has seen many young people empowered to open up their small business and become self reliant.

Indeed, this is a transformative programme under H.E. Dr. Eric K. Mutai (PhD), Governor, Kericho.
