Mama Grace Kadzo Mwangandi, beloved mother of Col. Faith Hariri Mwagandi, will be remembered for her courage, dedication, and selfless sacrifice in supporting the education and well-being of her children. Her unwavering commitment also extended to the church and the wider Shomela community, where she touched many lives through her service and compassion.

Earlier today, at Shomela Village in Magarini Constituency, we joined her family, the church, friends, and members of the community in celebrating her life and bidding her a final farewell during her burial service.

May Mama Grace Kadzo’s soul rest in eternal peace.

As part of the Implementation Support Mission for the NYOTA Project, I led my team on a visit to MC Caroline John’s workshop in Migori Town to assess the progress of 14 OJE-NYOTA beneficiaries among the 10,000 youth under Lots 1 and 2 currently undertaking hands-on training with master craftsmen across various trades.

I was encouraged by the enthusiasm, commitment, and confidence demonstrated by the young beneficiaries, many of whom have quickly adapted to their training and are already acquiring valuable skills.

They expressed optimism that upon successful assessment and certification by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), they will be better positioned to secure sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities. This affirms the transformative impact of the NYOTA Project in empowering youth through practical skills development and employment pathways.

The Uriri Film Hub, a collaboration between the Kenya Film Commission and the Uriri NG-CDF, will go a long way in empowering the youth of Migori County with skills and competencies in the creative economy sector. With its extensive value chain, the space is expected to offer film production services, including scripting, directing, acting, and post-production. These services encompass video editing, colour grading, sound editing, music production, and cinematography.

The policy interventions and infrastructural development within the creative economy space reflect the vision of the administration of H.E. President William Samoei Ruto in elevating the creative economy to meet global standards.

This afternoon in Uriri, Migori County, I joined Hon. Mark Nyamita and the leadership of the Kenya Film Commission for the launch of the Uriri Film Hub. The event also featured the graduation of about 500 youth from across Migori County who were trained in various skills within the film economy ahead of today official activity.

In the company of Hon. Mark Nyamita, MP for Uriri Constituency, we paid a courtesy visit to St. Joseph Rapogi High School, his former school, a distinguished institution with a student population of over 2,400 learners.

During our visit, we encouraged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their academic pursuits as the education sector continues to embrace reforms under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework. We emphasized the importance of adaptability, hard work, and resilience in achieving their goals and aspirations.

I was greatly impressed by the discipline, dedication and commitment demonstrated by both the teachers and students in pursuing excellence and realizing their vision for the future. I commend the school community for their efforts and wish them continued success in all their endeavors.
