Today, I had the honour of attending the burial of the late Peter Guyo Bashora in Mogole–Chamari. Peter was not only a son of this community but also a passionate and dedicated football player who proudly played for Chamari City F.C. His love for the game and his commitment to teamwork will always remain an inspiration to our youth and to all who knew him.

I wish to sincerely thank the football family in Chamari for standing together during this difficult moment. Special appreciation goes to Mogole F.C., Ruruma F.C., Hustlers F.C., and Chamari City F.C. Your presence today has shown the true spirit of unity, brotherhood, and solidarity that sports brings into our lives.

Football is more than just a game – it builds community, discipline, and hope. By coming together to honour one of your own, you have reminded us of the strength we find in teamwork both on and off the pitch.

May Peter’s memory live on through the spirit of the game he loved so much.

“As a son of Marafa ward, today’s event is very close to my heart. I take this moment to sincerely thank World Vision for the great support and transformation they have brought to our community since 2007.

For 18 years, World Vision has walked with the people of Marafa — uplifting education, improving access to water, caring for the environment, and empowering families to dream bigger. Many lives have been changed because of this noble work.

A great day led by Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chebule, CEC water and Environment Omar Said, CEC Education Kaingu, Magarini M.P Harry Kombe among other leaders.

On behalf of my people and as Chief Officer in charge of Economic Planning, I say asante sana to World Vision. Your legacy will remain in Marafa for generations to come.”

Today, as the Kilifi County Chief Officer in charge of Economic Planning, I had the privilege of joining the entire County leadership led by Governor Gedion Maitha Mung’aro for the Chenda Chenda Celebration at Pwani University.

This celebration is a vital part of the Mijikenda culture, symbolizing unity, heritage, and the preservation of our traditions. Events like Chenda Chenda are important for our county because they not only strengthen cultural identity but also foster social cohesion, promote tourism, and pass down invaluable knowledge to future generations.

As a county, we remain committed to safeguarding and promoting our rich cultural heritage as a foundation for unity and sustainable development

Today, a distinguished delegation from the Waata community, led by the Chief Officer for Economic Planning, held a fruitful consultative meeting with H.E. Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro in Kilifi.

The meeting was further graced by the presence of Hon. Harry Kombe, the incoming Magarini Member of Parliament in the forthcoming by-election, alongside the Waata County Chair, Mr. Jacob Kokani.

In a strong show of unity and solidarity, the Waata community unanimously resolved to stand firmly behind Hon. Harry Kombe in the by-election, affirming their commitment to walk together towards a brighter future for Magarini.

The community also pledged their unwavering support for Governor Mung’aro’s visionary development agenda, applauding the transformative projects currently being implemented in Waata areas under the leadership of the Governor and Chief Officer Wario.

With this renewed partnership, the Waata community has sent a resounding message of hope, unity, and progress — a clear testimony that together, we can achieve more for Kilifi County.

Once again, Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro has shown true leadership by standing with the minority communities of Kilifi County, this time uplifting the Waata community.

In a special gesture of empowerment, the Department of Livestock under his administration extended support to different groups of Waata women. These groups were officially given vows (commitments and resources) that will enable them to thrive in livestock production and economic empowerment.

This noble act is not just about livestock—it is about restoring dignity, opening doors of opportunity, and ensuring that no community, however small, is left behind in Kilifi’s journey of growth.

Governor Mung’aro continues to remind us that leadership is about inclusion, empowerment, and walking with those who have often been overlooked. By standing with the Waata women, he is planting seeds of hope and self-reliance for generations to come.
