Today, I had the opportunity to welcome officers from the Pest Control Products Board to the Campus for their Induction Training Programme, as we also commenced the Experiential Learning Week for the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) Cohort 551/2026.
These two programmes, though serving different stages of professional development, speak to one important principle: learning must ultimately translate into better leadership and better service.
During the induction programme, I encouraged the officers to take full advantage of the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills, share experiences and build professional networks that will support their growth and effectiveness in the public service.

For the SLDP participants, the experiential week provides an opportunity to move beyond theory. Through challenges, reflection, debriefing sessions and excursions, participants are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, discover their strengths and turn experience into leadership insight.

I believe some of the most valuable lessons in leadership are found not only in what we are taught, but in what we experience, how we respond to challenges, and what we learn from reflection.

Leadership is learned, experienced, and continuously refined.**

Today, alongside our Director General, Prof. Nura Mohamed, I appended my signature to the negotiated Campus Workplan and Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2026/2027.

This marks more than the signing of targets and deliverables. It is a commitment to a year of ownership, teamwork, accountability and results as we work together to advance the mandate of the Kenya School of Government, Matuga Campus.

The occasion also provided an important opportunity to reflect on mental wellness. The Director General reminded us that every difficult season has an expiry date and that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. He encouraged us to take responsibility for our wellbeing and to support one another, noting:

“We need you as a School, your family needs you, and you are a benchmark for others.”

Mental wellness is indeed a shared responsibility. As colleagues, supervisors and leaders, we all have a role to play in creating a supportive environment where we can talk, listen, encourage and extend a helping hand to one another.

As we begin the new financial year, the ball is now in our court. Let us turn the commitments we have made into meaningful results and ensure that our collective efforts translate into lasting impact.

A new financial year. A renewed commitment. A shared responsibility.

Today, I welcomed officers from the Department of Immigration Services to Matuga Campus for their Opening Induction Course, alongside participants of Supervisory Skills Development Course No. 67/2026.

The ceremony was graced by Senior Director, Immigration Services, Mr. Fredrick Baya; Director, Immigration Coast Region, Mr. Josef Mwikya; Deputy Director, Ms. Susan Wakiaga; and Principal Immigration Officers, Ms. Sarah Muia and Ms. Florence Gitonga.

I encouraged the officers to embrace professionalism, integrity, mentorship and continuous learning as they begin their journey in public service, while encouraging the supervisory skills participants to share experiences and learn from one another.

We wish all participants a productive and transformative learning experience at Matuga.

It was a privilege to officially close Strategic Leadership Development Programme No. 548/2026 and Senior Management Course No. 156/2026 at KSG Matuga.

I challenged the graduates to move beyond the certificate and translate their learning into better leadership, improved performance and meaningful impact in public service.

May the knowledge, values and networks gained at the campus continue to inspire positive change wherever they serve. **The true measure of learning is the difference we make when we put it into action.**

Today, I had the privilege of joining the opening of Strategic Leadership Development Program Nos. 548 and 550, where Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed, Ph.D., EBS, challenged participants to embrace leadership as a journey of intentional choices, growth and service.

His message to “run your own race”, coupled with the 5Gs of Purposeful Leadership—God, Gratitude, Goals, Growth and Glow, offered powerful reflections on purposeful leadership.

As we look towards Vision 2060, the responsibility is ours to begin building the future we envision through purposeful action, innovation and collective responsibility.

It was a pleasure to welcome the leaders to KSG Matuga.

As Supervisory Skills Development Course (SSDC) No. 64/2026 came to a close, I congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme and challenged them to embrace leadership that is anchored on people, purpose, and integrity.

I encouraged them to build meaningful professional relationships, foster collaboration, and maintain a positive attitude as they champion transformational change in their respective workplaces. True leadership is demonstrated through service, sound decision-making, and a commitment to achieving lasting impact.

Congratulations to all the participants of **SSDC No. 64/2026**. I wish you every success as you apply the knowledge and skills gained to strengthen service delivery in the public sector.
