To day on 8 July 2026, officers of the National Police Service successfully executed a targeted security operation at the Kanyonyo Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP), resulting in the arrest of a high value suspect believed to be a key figure in an organized illegal fi****ms trafficking network.
During a thorough tactical search of the suspect's vehicle while en route to Nairobi, officers recovered multiple fi****ms and a substantial quantity of ammunition. The seizure prevented the suspected weapons from reaching criminal elements and significantly disrupted an active illegal weapons supply chain
Preliminary intelligence indicates that the suspect has been involved in the unlawful acquisition, transportation, supply, and distribution of illegal fi****ms and ammunition across several regions
The suspect remains in lawful police custody and is cooperating with detectives as investigations continue to identify and dismantle the wider criminal network, including suppliers, couriers, and intended recipients. Upon completion of investigations, the suspect will be arraigned before a competent court to face the appropriate charges
