Utamaduni, a Swahili word meaning cultural diversity. Marsabit is found in the Northern region of the country, offering very diverse cultural and geographical sceneries. It is home to fourteen nomadic communities living in the largest County in Kenya. Utamaduni Marsabit cultural visits is a product of Wanny Angerer in Moving Cultures https://www.facebook.com/wannyangererinmovingcultures?ref=ts&fre
f=ts with the aim of promoting unity in diversity. This project is geared towards fostering mutual link between visitors and nomadic communities in Laisamis, Karare, Marsabit and Loiyangalani which will lead to empowerment and hence fostering unity in diversity. It is also open to other places inhabited by nomadic communities. One of the unexplored sides of tourism is the contact with the indigenous Kenyan communities especially those living in far places like Marsabit. Utamaduni Marsabit cultural visits will commit towards strengthening this connection. It is not enough just to come and visit parks and see the wild animals, meeting and interacting with local communities, knowing their life styles will add a strong value and sense of humanity to the visits. This project began thanks to moving cultures through its mission of reaching the communities with the message of unity in diversity. The director is Steve Komote, a native of Marsabit and adviser Wanny Angerer, a global social development activist and human right defender as well as Singer.
