EMPOWERING MBOONI WOMEN, ONE WARD AT A TIME. MBOONI FIRST LADY JULIANA KIVASU GRACES WEF TRAINING IN WAIA/KAKO WARD, CHAMPIONS WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT AND FINANCIAL LITERACY

Today, September 7th, 2026, we took another decisive step towards empowering the women of Mbooni Constituency through a comprehensive Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) training held in Kako/Waia Ward. The exercise was spearheaded by the First Lady, Mrs. Juliana Mwikali Kivasu, working closely with the WEF Constituency Officer, Madam Virginia Kimeu. This is not about empty promises or political rhetoric—it is about equipping our women with the knowledge, skills and financial tools they need to grow their businesses, strengthen their families and build sustainable livelihoods.

The training brought together 73 women groups, comprising 57 new groups eager to access WEF financing and 16 existing groups that have previously benefited from WEF support and are now ready for another financing cycle. The sessions focused on practical areas that directly determine the success of women-led enterprises, including budgeting, daily record keeping, credit and debt management, group dynamics, financial literacy and detailed consultations on WEF funds. We are ensuring that our women do not merely receive funds, but understand how to manage, invest and repay them responsibly for lasting economic empowerment.

This programme is not a one-day political event. It is a structured constituency-wide initiative that will be rolled out across all six wards of Mbooni Constituency, ensuring that women in every corner of our constituency have an equal opportunity to access information and benefit from WEF financing. We are deliberately taking the process closer to the people so that no genuine women’s group is left behind because of lack of information, technical knowledge or access to the right channels.

Following the training, the process will proceed to the filling and submission of loan forms, verification and the eventual disbursement of WEF funds to qualifying groups. Our message to the women of Mbooni is clear: we believe in your potential, your businesses and your ability to transform your families and communities. This is empowerment that must translate into real economic impact—not empowerment for photographs, but empowerment that puts resources in the hands of hardworking women and gives them the capacity to create wealth, employment and a better future for their families.

KITETA/KISAU WARD SET FOR KSHS 16.62 MILLION IN NEW DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS. UNVEILING PRIORITISED PROJECTS UNDER FY 2026/2027

Following a successful and inclusive public participation exercise conducted across Mbooni Constituency in July 2026, the proposed projects for Kisau/Kiteta Ward for the Financial Year 2026/27 have been prioritised according to the needs identified by the people and the financial resources available. A total of KShs 16,623,734 has been approved for strategic investments in education infrastructure, sanitation and school security. This demonstrates our commitment to people-driven development, prudent utilisation of public resources and ensuring that available resources are directed towards projects that address genuine community needs and deliver sustainable benefits.

In education, KShs 1,500,000 will finance construction of one classroom, while KShs 7,000,000 will support construction of a dormitory, improving the learning and boarding environment for students and helping to address congestion in existing facilities. A further KShs 5,000,000 will fund an Administration Block, providing essential office and service space for school management and staff. These investments will strengthen education infrastructure, improve the welfare of learners and create a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and effective school administration.

To enhance safety and sanitation, KShs 2,323,734 has been allocated for concrete-post fencing, providing improved security for school facilities, learners and assets, while clearly defining institutional boundaries. Another KShs 800,000 will support construction of a pit latrine with a PWD chamber, promoting hygiene, dignity and accessibility for learners with disabilities. Collectively, these projects represent a practical development agenda focused on quality education, learner welfare, institutional security and inclusive sanitation, and I remain committed to ensuring that the projects approved through public participation are implemented transparently, efficiently and to the required standards for the benefit of the people of Kisau/Kiteta Ward.

TULIMANI WARD SET FOR KSHS 17.5 MILLION IN NEW DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS. UNVEILING PRIORITISED PROJECTS UNDER FY 2026/2027

Following a successful and inclusive public participation exercise conducted across Mbooni Constituency in July 2026, the proposed projects for Tulimani Ward for the Financial Year 2026/27 have been prioritised based on the needs identified by the people and the financial resources available. A total of KShs 17,500,000 has been approved for strategic investments in education, technical training and digital empowerment. This reflects our commitment to people-driven development, prudent utilisation of public resources and ensuring that investments respond to both the immediate needs and the long-term aspirations of the people of Tulimani.

In education, KShs 1,500,000 will finance construction of one classroom, while KShs 1,000,000 will support renovation of a school, helping to improve learning conditions and provide learners with safe, adequate and conducive facilities. A further KShs 8,000,000 will fund the ground floor of a storeyed workshop block, expanding facilities for practical and technical training. This is particularly important in equipping young people with practical skills that can translate into employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance, while strengthening the capacity of local institutions to offer quality technical education.

The allocation of KShs 7,000,000 for a Basic Digital Hub is a forward-looking investment in the digital future of our young people and the wider community. The facility will provide an opportunity for residents, students and youth to access digital skills, information, technology-enabled learning and other digital services, helping bridge the digital divide and create new opportunities in the modern economy. Collectively, these projects demonstrate a development agenda centred on quality education, technical skills, digital empowerment and opportunity creation, and I remain committed to ensuring their transparent, efficient and quality implementation for the benefit of the people of Tulimani Ward.

Today, accompanied by my wife, First Lady Juliana Kivasu, I joined the family, relatives, friends and residents of Kitithini Village, Kyamithenge in Tulimani Ward, as we laid to rest our brother and friend, the late John Nthiw’a Kimata.

John was not just a supporter of my leadership; he was a friend and a committed believer in the journey we have undertaken to transform Mbooni. His support, encouragement and belief in our shared vision will always remain close to my heart.

Losing a loved one is never easy. To the family of John, I extend my deepest condolences and pray that God gives you strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time.

As we continue with the work of serving our people, I remain deeply grateful to the people of Mbooni for their trust, support and partnership. Together, we have made significant progress, and together, we shall continue working to make Mbooni better for every resident.

John’s memory will remain with us, and his contribution to our community will not be forgotten.May God rest his soul in eternal peace.Tuzidi Kujenga Mbooni Pamoja.

FOUR YEARS OUT OF SCHOOL. ONE DECISION CHANGED EVERYTHING. NICHOLAS IS BACK.

There are moments in leadership when you are reminded that public service is ultimately about changing lives.

Nicholas Kasyoki from Ngunga-Katunyoni Village in Utangwa had his education interrupted in 2022 while in Form Three at Kikima Secondary School. Financial hardship forced him out of the classroom, and for four years, his dream of completing his education remained on hold.

But Nicholas refused to give up.
He approached me, shared his story and asked for one thing: an opportunity to go back to school.I listened, and I chose to act.

Today, I am proud to say that Nicholas is back in class at St. Augustine Utangwa High School under my sponsorship.This is what leadership should be about.

It is about seeing a young person who still has potential, removing the barriers standing in their way and giving them the opportunity to rise again.
Education must remain a priority. No young person should be forced to abandon their dreams simply because their family cannot afford school fees.

Nicholas has been given a second chance. Now, the responsibility is his to work hard, remain disciplined and make the most of this opportunity.

Four years were lost. But the dream was never lost.
Today, Nicholas is back in school. Tomorrow, we look forward to seeing him build the future he always believed was possible.

This is why we must continue investing in our children and standing with our young people.

KALAWA WARD SET FOR KSHS 15.6 MILLION IN NEW DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS. UNVEILING PRIORITISED PROJECTS UNDER FY 2026/2027

Following a successful and inclusive public participation exercise conducted across Mbooni Constituency in July 2026, the proposed projects for Kalawa Ward for the Financial Year 2026/27 have been carefully prioritised according to the needs identified by the people and the financial resources available. A total of KShs 15,600,000 has been approved for projects targeting water access, sanitation, education, environmental conservation and local administration. This demonstrates our commitment to participatory development, prudent use of public resources and ensuring that the priorities of the people remain at the centre of our development agenda.

The allocation includes KShs 2,800,000 for seven water tanks, gutters/piping, bases and planting of 1,000 trees, which will enhance rainwater harvesting, improve water availability and strengthen environmental conservation. KShs 2,800,000 will support construction of a pit latrine with a PWD chamber, promoting sanitation, hygiene, dignity and accessibility for persons with disabilities. In education, KShs 1,500,000 will finance a new classroom, while KShs 4,500,000 will support renovation of three schools. These investments will improve learning environments, address infrastructure gaps and provide learners with safer and more conducive facilities.

Another KShs 4,000,000 has been allocated for construction of an Assistant Chief's Office, bringing government services closer to the people while improving the working environment for local administration officers. Collectively, the projects represent a balanced response to the community's priorities, with a deliberate focus on water security, sanitation, quality education, environmental conservation and accessible government services. I remain committed to ensuring that the projects identified through public participation are implemented transparently, efficiently and to the required standards, so that the people of Kalawa Ward can see and feel the tangible impact of their development priorities.

Following a successful and inclusive public participation exercise conducted across Mbooni Constituency in July 2026, the proposed projects for Kithungo/Kitundu Ward for the Financial Year 2026/27 have been carefully prioritised based on the needs identified by the people and the financial resources available. A total of KShs 14,900,000 has been approved for projects targeting water access, sanitation, education, administration and environmental conservation. This is a clear demonstration that our development priorities are guided by the voices of the people and that available public resources are being directed towards projects with the greatest potential to improve livelihoods.

The allocation includes KShs 4,800,000 for 12 water tanks, gutters/piping, bases and planting of 1,000 trees, which will strengthen rainwater harvesting, improve household and institutional water availability, and promote environmental conservation. KShs 1,600,000 will provide two pit latrines with PWD chambers, enhancing sanitation, hygiene and dignity while ensuring that facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities. In education, KShs 3,000,000 will finance two classrooms, while KShs 1,500,000 will support renovation of a school. These investments will address congestion, improve learning conditions and create a safer and more conducive environment for our children to acquire quality education.

In matters of local administration and service delivery, KShs 4,000,000 has been allocated for construction of an Assistant Chief's Office, bringing government services closer to the people and improving the working environment for local administration officers. Taken together, these projects represent a balanced development agenda focused on water security, sanitation, quality education, environmental conservation and accessible government services. I remain committed to ensuring that the projects identified and approved through public participation are implemented transparently, efficiently and to the required standards so that the people of Kithungo/Kitundu Ward can experience tangible and lasting benefits from these public investments.

After financial difficulties forced her to stay out of Makueni Girls High School for a year, Mwende’s education was at risk of coming to an end. Her family could not raise the accumulated school fees arrears, and the dream of completing her education seemed increasingly out of reach.

It was at this difficult moment that Mwende reached out to me for help. Although I had never met her before, her story touched me, and I could not watch a young student lose her education simply because of circumstances beyond her control.
I committed to support her education and facilitated her return to school at Kilyungi Secondary School, where I took responsibility for her school fees and enabled her to continue with her studies.

Mwende embraced the opportunity with determination. She worked hard, remained focused and successfully completed her secondary education last year, attaining an impressive B (Plain) in her KCSE examinations.

During the burial of the late Mwalimu Rose Nthambi Muoki at Uma Primary School grounds, Mwende shared her journey and expressed her gratitude for the support that enabled her to return to school.

Today, I am proud to see that journey reach another important milestone.
Mwende has reported to Machakos University, where she has begun pursuing a Degree in Education. 🎓
From spending a year out of school because of financial hardship to joining university is a remarkable transformation. Her story reminds us that sometimes, an intervention at the right moment can change the entire direction of a young person's life.

I reaffirm my commitment to continue supporting Mwende as she pursues her university education.
