Since assuming office, the focus has been clear, strengthening the Assembly, upholding integrity, and delivering for the people of Migori.

Working closely with Honourable Members, notable progress has been made in improving legislative efficiency, enhancing oversight, and restoring order and dignity in the House. Key motions and bills are now processed more effectively, committee work has been strengthened, and the voice of the people remains at the center of every decision.

The Office of the Speaker continues to provide leadership in presiding over sittings, maintaining order, guiding proceedings in line with Standing Orders, and safeguarding the independence of the Assembly. It also ensures coordination with other arms of government while protecting the Assembly’s oversight role.

Transparency and public engagement remain a priority. The Assembly has opened its doors wider to the public, including hosting students and stakeholders, to promote understanding of governance and democracy.

The journey continues, with a firm commitment to a strong, accountable, and people-centered Assembly.

Today marked a significant milestone for the Migori County Assembly following a successful and impactful stakeholder engagement that culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICPAK.

This partnership is a bold step forward in strengthening our legislative mandate, enhancing oversight, and building the capacity of both Honourable Members and staff. It reflects our unwavering commitment to professionalism, accountability, and improved service delivery to the people of Migori County.

I commend the ICPAK delegation, led by National Chairman CPA Dr. Elizabeth Kalunda, together with Council Members, Branch Leaders, and members of the Institute, for their dedication and shared vision in this collaboration.

Together, we are laying a firm foundation for a more effective, transparent, and people-centered County Assembly.

We are in talks with the Governor and the County Executive to initiate the process of elevating Masara to municipality status. The growth we are witnessing is no longer ordinary — it is structured, rapid, and economically transformative. We have expanding businesses, an increasing population, vibrant gold mining activities, and rising demand for better urban planning, sanitation, security, and infrastructure. Municipality status will unlock improved planning frameworks, attract national funding, enhance revenue streams, and ensure proper regulation of development.

On gold mining, this sector has become the backbone of Migori County’s economy. It provides employment to hundreds of families and drives trade across the region. Instead of overburdening miners with taxes, the county should consider tax incentives or temporary tax relief to formalize and strengthen the sector. Supporting miners means supporting livelihoods, increasing long-term revenue, and promoting responsible, regulated mining.

I have requested PS Raymond Omolo to convey a message to President Ruto that the Migori–Muhuru road should be completed. This road is a strategic economic corridor connecting markets, easing transportation of goods, and opening up investment opportunities. Delays in its completion continue to slow economic progress and disadvantage our people.

I remain committed to practical, inclusive, and people-centered development. Masara is growing. Our miners deserve support. Our roads should be completed. The time to act is now.

Earlier today, I joined PS Raymond Omollo and other leaders at Masara Primary School for the ongoing national
ID issuance and voter registration drive.

I call upon our people — especially the youth — to come out in large numbers and take advantage of this opportunity. An ID is your right, and registering as a voter is your power.

The Migori County Assembly had the distinct honour of hosting H.E. Governor Ochilo Ayacko for the State of the County Address.

As the Speaker of the Migori County Assembly, I proudly acknowledge the remarkable progress our county continues to register through focused leadership, strengthened institutions, and responsible governance.

The address clearly outlined the significant milestones achieved over the past year and the firm direction we are taking as a county.
We have witnessed improved revenue collection systems that are enhancing financial stability, and the settlement of pending bills that has revived confidence among local contractors and businesses. Key investments in healthcare infrastructure are improving service delivery, while the expansion of ECDE classrooms is strengthening the foundation of education for our young learners.

Across our wards, road improvements and ongoing water projects are bringing services closer to the people and opening up economic opportunities. These achievements reflect what is possible when there is cooperation between the Executive and the Assembly, guided by accountability and the shared goal of transforming lives.

As an Assembly, we remain steadfast in our constitutional mandate of legislation, representation, and oversight to ensure that every resource allocated to Migori County delivers value to our people.

Migori is rising through unity, discipline, and purposeful leadership. Together, we will continue building a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous county for present and future generations.

As the Speaker of the Migori County Assembly, I had the honour of hosting CPA Roble Nuno, AG. CEO and Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), during an official engagement on county budget ceilings. This meeting was a key step in aligning our legislative work with national fiscal frameworks that guide equitable and sustainable development.

The discussions focused on ensuring that budget ceilings are not just figures on paper, but tools that promote meaningful development across all sectors. Emphasis was placed on prioritizing projects that directly impact livelihoods, service delivery, and economic growth for the people of Migori County.

We underscored the importance of prudent resource allocation, accountability, and value for money in the use of public resources. A disciplined budgeting process strengthens county institutions and enables the Assembly to effectively play its oversight and legislative role in safeguarding public interest.

Going forward, the Migori County Assembly remains committed to working closely with the Commission on Revenue Allocation and other stakeholders to ensure that every shilling allocated translates into tangible development outcomes. Our focus remains clear: transforming resources into real change for our communities.

As we come to this special time of the year, it was truly meaningful to come together as one family. I had the pleasure of meeting Hon. Members and staff of the Migori County Assembly in Rusinga Island for a team-building session where we shared, bonded, and reflected openly on our journey and the challenges we have faced together.

Moments like these strengthen our unity and reaffirm that working as one team is the foundation of effective service to the people of Migori.

As we close the year, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026. May the Almighty God be with you and your families, granting you good health, peace, and renewed strength in the year ahead.

I had the honour of hosting Kisumu County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Elisha Oraro, during his courtesy call to the Migori County Assembly as he made his way to the ongoing 5th Edition of the Piny Luo Cultural Festival here in Migori County.

Speaker Oraro rallied our Hon. Members to remain focused on delivering their constitutional mandate through effective legislation, representation, and oversight, while upholding peaceful coexistence, unity, and service to the people. He reminded us of the need to honour the legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga by always putting the interests of our constituents first.

We also held constructive discussions on MCAs’ welfare, particularly the need for unity in advocating for pension benefits, just as is the case for Members of Parliament. On regional development, we explored strengthening inter-county collaboration by hosting committee sittings across Nyanza to boost local economies and regional integration.

Meanwhile, the Piny Luo Cultural Festival has entered its third day, with vibrant activities taking place at Rongo University, Awendo Green Stadium, Senye Beach in Muhuru, and Thim Lich Ohinga in Nyatike. The festival continues to attract thousands of visitors, boosting local businesses and showcasing the rich heritage of the Luo community.

Migori County is proud to host the 5th Edition of Piny Luo, drawing leaders and guests from within and beyond Kenya.

God Bless Migori County.
