Yesterday, the KNCCI Taita Taveta County Chapter, led by Chairperson Mr. Andrew Mwamburi, alongside Vice Chair Mr. Zaccheus Maganga, Directors, and the County Chapter Manager, paid a courtesy visit to the County Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting focused on briefing the County Administration on the ongoing Jiinue Growth Program, which is supporting MSMEs and SMEs through technical assistance and financial support.
We also explored key areas of collaboration, particularly on strengthening beneficiary mobilization efforts to achieve our monthly targets and ensure more entrepreneurs benefit from this impactful program.
Together, we are building stronger enterprises and empowering our local economy. 💼📈

Today, participants were taken through the e-GP system, learning how to navigate the platform, register and submit bids correctly.

Tomorrow, the team from the National Treasury will be back to take us through the final session and assist with any issues related to e-GP and company registration.

Yesterday, KNCCI Taita Taveta County Chapter was proud to support and participate in the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) commemorations held at Rekeke Primary School, Taveta Sub-county.
The national event, convened by the Anti-FGM Board, brought together national and county government leaders, development partners, community leaders, and local residents in a united stand against FGM. We were honoured to host key leaders including CS Hanna Wendot Cheptumo, PS Anne Wang’ombe, Deputy Governor Christine Saru Kilalo, Woman Representative Lydia Haika, Taveta MP John Bwire and leaders from NGEC and partner institutions.
Ending FGM requires collective action. Through partnerships and community-driven efforts, steady progress is being made toward protecting the rights and dignity of girls and women.

Recently, KNCCI Taita Taveta, carried out training through Jiinue Growth Program (JGP) tailored to equip youth with entreprenurial, customer care skills and life skills at Kishushe.

The program aims to build capacity for young women in business through training and access to affordable credit.

Participants appreciated the skills and knowledge imparted and looked forward to accessing the affordable JGP loans.

Registration for entrepreneurial training and low interest loans for young women in business is ongoing.

Stakeholders Engagement on Basket Weaving, Leather Tanning and Beadwork held at The Avid Hotel, Voi.

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Taita Taveta Chapter yesterday participated in a stakeholders’ engagement forum that brought together artisans, county officials, and development partners to discuss product marketing, customer networks, and key challenges facing the sector.

The forum, organized by the Taita Taveta County Government with support from TTWCA, saw Chapter representation by Chairperson Mr. Andrew Mwamburi, Vice Chairperson Mr. Zaccheus Maghanga, and Director Mr. Winstone Changulo, who emphasized the Chamber’s continued commitment to promoting local enterprise and linking artisans to sustainable markets.

Key outcomes included identifying opportunities for joint marketing, improving access to raw materials, and strengthening market linkages through KNCCI platforms. The Chamber also committed to work closely with TTWCA through the TUI Wildlife Project and other partners to roll out technical assistance, mentorship, and market linkage programs for the identified groups. Additionally, KNCCI will explore collaboration with financial institutions and development partners to support artisans in scaling their enterprises for better livelihood returns.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to transform basket weaving, leather tanning, and beadwork into viable economic drivers in Taita Taveta County — empowering youth, women, and PWD groups to participate meaningfully in trade and industry.

📢 Public Participation | Strengthening Business Inclusivity in Trade Facilitation 🇰🇪

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Taita Taveta County Chapter yesterday participated in the Public Participation Forum on the Draft National Electronic Single Window System (Fee Reduction and Exemption) Regulations, 2025, held at Satoo Hall, Taveta Subcounty, Taita Taveta County.

The exercise was spearheaded by the KenTrade Board of Directors led by Chairman Hon. Basil Criticos, with participation from trade facilitation industry stakeholders who shared their views on the proposed regulations. The proposed framework seeks to provide for reduction and exemption of fees payable for use of the National Electronic Single Window System, as well as the conditions for such reductions and exemptions, to enhance efficiency and inclusivity in trade.

Other KenTrade Directors present included Dr. Florence Chemtai, Abubakar Lewano, Meshack Kipturgo, Rose Masita, Ibrahim Abdi, and Noreen Kanyua. Representatives from government agencies such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) were also in attendance.

The Chamber was represented by County Chairperson Mr. Andrew Mwamburi, Vice Chairperson Mr. Zaccheus Maghanga, Director Mr. Winstone Changulo, and Chamber Manager Madam Wakesho. The team underscored the importance of inclusive trade facilitation, advocating for fee reductions and exemptions for MSMEs, startups, and youth- and women-owned enterprises to strengthen grassroots economic growth and participation.

KNCCI Taita Taveta County Chapter remains committed to working closely with KenTrade, the National Treasury, and other stakeholders to create a favorable environment for local entrepreneurs and enhance regional trade competitiveness.

KNCCI Taita Taveta was honoured to participate in the School Leaders Conference 2025, a landmark forum bringing together educators, government, business leaders and stakeholders passionate about transforming the education sector. It was an epic 3 day Leadership Development training with Anthony Silard, Nicole Alonso, Ján Rehák and Francis Kihanya through the Centre for Social Leadership and Luiss Business School.
The conference provided a platform to reflect on the critical role of education in driving social and economic development. Discussions centered on:
✅ Innovation in teaching and learning – leveraging technology and problem solving to prepare learners for a dynamic world
✅ Linkages between education and entrepreneurship – education and entrepreneurship being tools for transformation
✅ Inclusion – involvement of all stakeholders within the community
✅ Leadership in education – inspiring educators to be change-makers in their communities.
As KNCCI Taita Taveta, we believe education is the cornerstone of sustainable growth. By bridging the gap between business and education, we can empower learners with relevant skills, nurture entrepreneurship and build a workforce ready to compete globally.

🌍 Strengthening Partnerships for Business Growth in Taita Taveta 🌍

Earlier today, KNCCI Taita Taveta Chapter hosted a courtesy visit from the Mwatate Subcounty Administrator, Mr. Calistus Lugho, accompanied by Mr. Raphael Kimbio of Mwatate Municipality.

The discussions focused on areas of collaboration to support the business community in Mwatate Subcounty. A key outcome was the commitment to empower Basket Weavers through capacity building on value addition and access to markets via KNCCI platforms.

Present during the meeting were Mr. Winstone Changulo (Director KNCCI), Madam Wakesho (Chapter Manager), and Madam Margaret (Field Officer).
