Today, I attended the funeral of the late Tom Charito Sande, the late aide of Prof. John Lonyang'apuo, alongside family, fellow leaders, friends, and mourners at Kamuino, where he was buried at his home.

Tom Charito lived purposefully. He served with integrity, led humbly, and treated everyone with kindness and respect. He was known for his hard work and welcoming nature.

His contributions to the community were meaningful. The high standards he set will endure, and his absence creates a void that cannot be filled.

Tom was a man guided by principles. He was dedicated, honest, and compassionate. He made time for others, worked diligently without shortcuts, and commanded respect.

Kenya has lost a committed public servant. We have lost a good man.

May God comfort the Sande family and strengthen them.

Rest in peace, Tom Charito Sande.

Yesterday, 13th August , 2026, we engaged in a consultative discussion with a delegation from the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK), led by President Madam Chirchir, alongside the CEO and other officials.

Our dialogue focused on fostering partnerships and collaboration between public and private sector practitioners, strengthening connections between higher education institutions, research, innovation, industry, and the Kenyan government as a facilitator for a supportive working environment.

This approach aims to promote sustained economic growth through reforms in the built environment, as well as via bilateral and multilateral collaborations that can fulfill Singapore's 🇸🇬 aspirations by advancing Kenya's Vision 2060.

Today, I accompanied Hon. Gitonga Mugambi CBS, PS Forestry, who represented Hon. Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff, and Hon. Elijah Mwangi, PS Sports, at Koporoch Girls Senior School for an athletics run, a thanksgiving ceremony where 173 students achieved university entry grades in the KCSE 2025, a laboratory stone foundation, and the distribution of 14,000 fruit tree seedlings (avocados and mangoes).

A total of 31 schools received avocado seedlings, and 30 schools received mango seedlings. Additionally, 4,000 households were provided with avocado seedlings, and 1,000 households with mango seedlings, across Kerelwa in Batei/Tapach Ward.

Support was also extended to football teams in the Koporoch/Kerelwa area.

Last evening, I had the privilege of joining Hon. Felix Koskei, the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service of the Republic of Kenya, along with other leaders and members of Wareng Powerhouse, at their 8th Anniversary Leadership Dinner in Eldoret City.

This year's theme was: "Driving Economic Diversification for Resilience, Global Competitiveness, and Shared Prosperity," a reminder that creating more opportunities, supporting enterprise, and ensuring development reaches every corner of our country are key to building a stronger, more sustainable future for generations to come.

Over the past eight years, Wareng Powerhouse has blossomed into a vibrant network of leaders dedicated to making a real difference in their communities. Through initiatives in education, healthcare, agriculture, enterprise development, and youth mentorship, the organization has demonstrated that leadership isn’t just about the titles we hold; it’s about the lives we touch and the opportunities we open up for others.

Today, I attended the Second Disbursement of the NYOTA Programme Business Support at Kishaunet Showground, joining Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, CS for East African Community, ASAL and Regional Development Beatrice Askul and fellow PS Mining for Mining Harry Kimtai.

The event covered beneficiaries from West Pokot, Trans-Nzoia, and Turkana Counties.

Among those in attendance were H.E Governor Simon Kachapin, Prof. John Lonyang'apuo, Hon. Samuel Moroto, Deputy Governor Robert Komolle, and other leaders.

The programme has played a key role in empowering our youth by providing vital business skills and capital to help them launch or expand their ventures.

In West Pokot, 1,448 beneficiaries who initially received KSh25,000 have completed business training across all wards. Now, they’ve received a second KSh25,000 tranche, doubling their support to KSh50,000. Additionally, 258 new beneficiaries received their first KSh25,000. From each beneficiary’s share, KSh3,000 is automatically deducted and contributed to NSSF.

We thank H.E President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for ensuring that the youth are included in our nation's transformative agenda—giving them access to capital and the chance to grow their businesses.

I encourage all beneficiaries to make wise investments with these funds in sustainable businesses that can improve livelihoods, create jobs, and drive our counties’ economic growth.

Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of joining H.E. the First Lady for the launch of the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods Improvement Programme.
The Mau Forest Complex is not only a critical water tower for our nation but also the lifeblood of countless communities. This vital initiative champions a dual approach: aggressively restoring our forest cover while simultaneously uplifting the economic well-being of the communities living adjacent to the forest.
Under the First Lady’s steadfast leadership and dedication to environmental conservation, this program integrates sustainable livelihood projects that will empower the people of Nakuru County to become active guardians of our natural resources.
In the State Department for Public Works, we recognize that sustainable infrastructure goes hand-in-hand with environmental stewardship. We remain fully committed to supporting inter-ministerial efforts that protect our ecosystems while driving grassroots economic empowerment.
Together, we are building a greener, more sustainable Kenya for future generations.
