STATEMENT IN HONOUR OF OUR FALLEN HEROES TWO YEARS LATER June 25, 2026

Today, marks Exactly two years since the Historic Anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests, a turning point in Kenya’s Democratic evolution. It was on this day that the youth of Kenya, led by the bold and brave Gen Z, stood up in defiance of injustice, exploitation, and failed leadership.

That day, however, came at a painful cost.

As the Kenya Youth Association (KYA), we pause to honour and remember the over 60 young lives tragically lost during and after the protests. These were not just names - they were our brothers, sisters, classmates, neighbours, and comrades in the struggle for a better Kenya. Their courage represents the collective spirit of a generation that refuses to be silenced.

These young Kenyans were united not by tribe, region, or class, but by a dream: a Just, Accountable, and Inclusive Kenya. Their dreams must live on.

As KYA, we reaffirm our commitment to fighting for Justice, Dignity, and Opportunities for all youth. We stand with the families of the fallen and demand that the Government ensures full accountability for their deaths. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Their blood was not shed in vain. They lit a fire that continues to burn in our hearts and streets. We will not relent. We will not forget. We will keep rising in their names.

Rest in Power, Heroes.

STATEMENT BY KENYA YOUTH ASSOCIATION (KYA) ON POLICE BRUTALITY AGAINST YOUTH IN NANDI COUNTY

The Kenya Youth Association (KYA) strongly condemns the disturbing and unlawful conduct by police officers from Nandi Hills Police Station who, on the night of 10th January 2026 Violently assaulted young people who were peacefully playing pool.

Let it be stated categorically: playing pool is not a crime. The harassment, assault, and humiliation of young people under the pretext of law enforcement is unacceptable and unconstional and amounts to gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Kenya has painfully witnessed the consequences of unchecked police brutality before. The Gen Z uprisings, triggered by systemic injustice and abuse of power, remain fresh in the nation’s memory. The tragic death of Albert Ojwang, among many other young Kenyans, stands as a grim reminder of what happens when force replaces accountability.

Let this serve as a warning: continued harassment and brutality against youth risks reigniting public outrage and instability that this country can ill afford.

TAKE NOTICE; Should the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), the National Police Service, and all relevant oversight bodies fail to take immediate and decisive action, Kenya Youth Association (KYA) shall institute legal proceedings to:
(1). Compel the arrest and prosecution of the officers involved; (2). Seek their immediate interdiction from service pending investigations; (3). Hold the Inspector General and All responsible command structures accountable; (4). Set a legal precedent that abuse of power will not be tolerated in Kenya.
We will not hesitate to move to Court to ensure justice is served and to protect the dignity and constitutional rights of Kenyan youth.

STATEMENT ON THE OWNERSHIP DISPUTE ROW AT
ST. MARY’S MISSION HOSPITAL, LANG’ATA

I have taken note with concern of the events that occurred today at St. Mary’s Mission Hospital in Lang’ata, arising from a dispute relating to the management and ownership of the institution, where Goons armed with crude weapons stormed the facility, resulting in a confrontation.
St. Mary’s Hospital holds a special place in our community as a mission hospital that has, for many years, provided essential and compassionate healthcare services to residents of Lang’ata and beyond. At the time of the incident, the hospital was operational, with patients receiving care and medical professionals diligently carrying out their duties.

As a community, it is important that we remember that healthcare facilities are sensitive and critical spaces that must be safeguarded at all times. Any disagreements, regardless of their nature, should be addressed peacefully, lawfully, and with utmost restraint, ensuring that the welfare of patients, healthcare workers, and the public is never compromised.

I encourage all concerned parties to uphold the rule of law, exercise calm, and allow due process to take its course through the appropriate legal and institutional channels. Dialogue, patience, and respect for lawful procedures remain the surest path to sustainable and just resolutions.I also urge relevant authorities to ensure that calm is maintained and that medical services at the facility continue without interruption, in the best interests of the sick and vulnerable members of our society.

As an aspiring Member of Parliament for Lang’ata Constituency come 2027, I wish to reaffirm that healthcare, in collaboration with the County Government, will be among my top priorities whem Elected. My vision is a Lang’ata where healthcare facilities are strengthened, protected from instability, and where disputes affecting critical public services are addressed amicably, consultatively, and in the best interest of the community.
Lang’ata deserves peace, stability, and Good leadership that places human dignity and life above all else. Let us All Collectively Prepare for Change Come 2027. CHANGE IS COMING!
