Today, I had the honor of joining this great initiative together with other stakeholders,caregivers and persons with disabilities as the County government of Murang’a celebrated Murang’a County Disability Day in Maragua Sub-County.

I was pleased to be part of this important occasion that highlighted the need for inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

It is always encouraging to see stakeholders come together in showing care, support, and solidarity with persons with disabilities. Such initiatives continue to strengthen our collective responsibility of creating an inclusive society where every individual is valued and empowered.

I extend my sincere appreciation to H.E. Dr. Irungu Kang’ata, Governor of Murang’a County, together with the First Lady of Murang’a County, for spearheading this impactful initiative that strongly resonates with the work we do at KISE.

We were honoured to offer our services to the people of Murang’a and will continue advocating for the rights, inclusion, and care of all persons with disabilities.

As KISE, we remain committed to our mandate of assessing children with disabilities and providing the necessary support, intervention, and guidance to help them thrive and achieve their full potential.

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming Kasarani Member of Parliament, Honorable Ronald Karauri, to the Kenya Institute of Special Education for a meaningful engagement centered on inclusion, empowerment, and service to the community.

During the courtesy visit, I took the MP on a tour of the KISE’s upcoming Assistive Devices Factory ,a transformative initiative that will strengthen the production and provision of quality assistive technology solutions for Kenya, the region, and beyond.

This is a clear indication that when communities, leaders, institutions, and partners unite for a common good, they create spaces that are truly inclusive, empowering, and life-changing for persons with disabilities.

I had the pleasure of hosting the Advisor to the Murang’a County Government on Disability Mainstreaming Affairs, together with Ms. Rosemary Wangari, County Representative in charge of Rehabilitation in Murang’a County, during a courtesy visit to the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

Our discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and forging strategic partnerships in preparation for the upcoming County Disability Day scheduled for 29th May 2026 in Murang’a County.

This engagement reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing disability inclusion, empowerment, and advocacy, as we work together to create meaningful and lasting impact for persons with disabilities across the county.

It was a great honor to participate in and host a media engagement at KISE on advancing AI-driven inclusive education for persons with disabilities in partnership with Huawei.

This important initiative, spearheaded by Huawei, brought together key partners to explore how artificial intelligence can address barriers in access, learning, and participation. I am proud that KISE was among the invited partners, contributing our expertise in special needs education, assessment, and rehabilitation.

During the engagement, I emphasized that as technology advances rapidly, our collective responsibility is to ensure innovation responds to real needs and delivers meaningful inclusion for persons with disabilities. Access to education, assistive technology, and economic opportunities must not remain limited. AI and digital solutions must be practical, accessible, and transformative.

I paid a courtesy call to the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Gender,Culture ,the Arts and Heritage Her Excellency Hanna Cheptumo where we held a productive engagement on advancing inclusive services for children with special needs.

Our discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between the Kenya Institute of Special Education and the State Department for Children Services, particularly in enhancing assessment, capacity building, and access to specialized interventions for children with disabilities across the country.

I reaffirmed KISE’s commitment to supporting government efforts in promoting inclusive education, child protection, and equitable access to essential services.

It was an honour to deliver my remarks at the Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) , held on 20th April 2026 here at Kenya Institute of Special Education .

The progress we see in inclusive learning across Kenya is a direct result of deliberate investment in our teachers . TSC has continuously ensured that qualified personnel are deployed to every corner of the nation to support special education .
