DIG KPS Grace Official Closure of HTC 123–126 Course at the School of Leadership, National Police College Main Campus Kiganjo

The Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service (KPS) today officially closed the HTC 123–126 course at the School of Leadership, National Police College,Main Campus Kiganjo .

While addressing the officers, the DIG congratulated all those who successfully completed the course and commended them for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to enhancing their professional capacity. He noted that their conduct throughout the training reflected positively on the standards, values, and leadership of the Kenya Police Service.

The DIG reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to continuous training as a critical pillar of effective policing.

He further expressed satisfaction that the course was completed without any incidents of indiscipline, underscoring the importance of accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct within the Service.

The officers were encouraged to apply the lessons learned, lead by example, and uphold the honor and core values of the Kenya Police Service.

In his final remarks, the DIG emphasized the need to prioritize the welfare of officers and called upon them to actively support government directives, particularly in the fight against illicit brews and drug abuse within their areas of deployment.

The Commandant Kenya Police college, Mr Nyale Munga SAIG and his deputy Ms. Donatha Kiplagat, SAIG and other senior officers were present during the occasion.

The Deputy Inspector General later in the day visited Madogo Police Station in Tana River County to oversee the ongoing operation on illegal fi****ms, so far nine fi****ms have been voluntarily surrendered following a 60-day ultimatum issued to residents.

He urged locals to take advantage of the remaining period and hand in any illegal fi****ms, emphasizing that the initiative is aimed at enhancing security and promoting peaceful coexistence.

While returning from Madogo, Mr. Lagat interacted with officers stationed along the route, including those at Kuriti, which borders Kitui and Tana River counties. He encouraged them to remain diligent and committed in the ex*****on of their duties.

He later proceeded to Mbondoni Police Post in Kitui County, where he met officers and emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and professionalism while carrying out their mandate.

The DIG also made a stop in Embu County at Kiritiri Police Station, where he emphasised the Inspector General (IG) message on officers to transform police stations into centers of excellence. He urged them to passionately address crimes such as illicit brew and drug abuse, among others.

He noted that officers’ welfare remains a key priority, stating that well supported officers are better positioned to deliver quality service and maintain law and order. He was accompanied by Nps Regional commanders from north eastern and coast Regions

SECURITY BOOST FOR NORTH EASTERN REGION
The Deputy Inspector General-KPS, Eliud Lagat, today, 15th January 2026, officiated the Pass Out Parade for National Police Reservist (NPR) Recruit Course 1/2025 at the Regional Training Centre in Garissa County.

A total of 283 recruits successfully completed the one-month intensive training programme and will now be deployed to support National Police Service officers in strengthening security in the volatile North Eastern region.

The DIG congratulated the recruits and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the public.

He reiterated the Service’s firm commitment to the fight against illicit brews and drug abuse, in line with presidential directives, and called on the newly passed-out reservists to work closely with police officers and local communities to maintain peace and prevent crime.

MALIZA ILLICIT BREW
Officers in Nandi South Sub County raided a brewing den in Kapkerer village and encountered 3,680 litres of kangara and 20 litres of chang’aa being brewed in a busj along the escarpment bordering Nandi and Kisumu counties. The suspects got away but police are pursuing them

Police officers at Kenol have recovered a large cache of illicit liquor from a residential house in Kimori after the occupant failed to pay rent for two months. The recovery included 109 cartons of Cryan Vodka, 24 cartons of Trace Vodka, 6 cartons of Supa Vodka, 3 cartons of Lyniber Vodka, 1 carton of UDV, and 1 carton of Rangers Vodka (all 250ml).

Also seized were assorted liquids, five sacks of assorted liquor, 15 sacks of empty liquor bottles, brewing equipment, and fake KRA stamps, pointing to an illegal brewing and packaging operation.

Investigations are ongoing as officers pursue the suspect. The operation continues as police intensify efforts to curb illicit alcohol and protect public safety.

LEADING FROM THE FRONT IN ERADICATING ILLICIT BREW

In an effort to strengthen the fight against illicit brews and narcotic drugs, the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, convened a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Western Region Police Command, led by Assistant Inspector General Issa Mohammed.

The meeting focused on developing and harmonising effective strategies and operational modalities aimed at eradicating illicit brews and drug trafficking within the Western Region. In attendance were County Police Commanders from Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, and Bungoma, alongside their counterparts from the Administration Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Following the meeting, coordinated operations were conducted across the region, resulting in the arrest of over 50 suspects. Police recovered 1,196 litres of chang’aa, 1,195 litres of kangara, 20 litres of uncustomed counterfeit liquor, and 64 kilograms of bhang. Additionally, law enforcement officers destroyed 873 litres of chang’aa and 50,900 litres of kangara during the two-day operation.

The Deputy Inspector General reaffirmed the Service’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding public health and security, emphasizing that the war against illicit brews and drugs will continue relentlessly, with leadership firmly leading from the front.

Residents have voluntarily surrendered 4 more AK-47s and 25 rounds under , pushing the 1-year total to 567 rifles and 1,861 rounds.

The amnesty period is still open and every weapon turned in translates to safer communities.

DIG-KPS COMMISSIONS UTALII POLICE STATION, VISITS KASARANI POLICE STATION.

The Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr Eliud Lagat, today, 15th August 2025, commissioned Utalii Police Station in Mathare, Ruaraka Constituency, in Nairobi. The construction of the station was funded by the Ruaraka Constituency NG-CDF for the 2022/2023 financial year.

The station was built to address issues of insecurity in the area. In the recent past, the area has experienced incidences of insecurity. According to the area residents who spoke at the event, they expressed their gratitude to the area MP, Hon. T.J. Kajwang, and the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr Eliud Lagat, for deploying police officers to work at the station.

While addressing the large crowd of residents, the DIG urged members of the public to collaborate with the officers and maintain a good relationship by reporting any criminal activities for police action. The DIG also assured the area MP, Hon. T.J. Kajwang, and the public that he would consider their request to provide a police vehicle at the station for the officers' easy mobility as they fight crime in the area.

Hon. T.J. Kajwang thanked the DIG for having spent part of his time attending the event and commissioning the police station. He said the presence of the police station will bring down criminal activities in the area, especially within the Mradi area, where gangs have been breaching the freedom of peace in the area by mugging and stabbing members of the public and committing other atrocities in the area. The Area legislator urged residents to have a good relationship with the police in the area aimed at making peace prevail and urged them to report criminals in the area.

The MP also promised to construct a police line at the station to ensure officers are readily available for deployment during security emergencies.

After the commissioning of the station, the DIG, also accompanied by the Commandant General Service Unit, Mr Ranson Lolmodoni, S/AIG, and the Nairobi Region Police Commander, Mr George Seda, AIG, visited Kasarani Police Station in a bid to assess service delivery by the station to the members of the public.

The DIG was received by the Sub-County Police Commander of Kasarani Division, Mr. Emmanuel Rono, SSP, and the Officer Commanding Station, CI David Mutegi Mugambi, who took it around the station and divisional headquarters. The DIG also had a closed meeting with all section heads at Kasarani Division.

Among the senior police officers present were Deputy Sub-County Police Commander Mr. Harrison Kiambuthi, ASP; Divisional Criminal Investigating Officer Mr. Aloyce Mbaya; and Deputy Base Commander of Kasarani, IP Nancy Chemilil, along with civilian staff at the Police Division.
