The Aim of MYVKenya is to promote and provide within its premises or project, programs of social economic, educational and community based activities within a safe and secure environment. Special regard is paid to the program areas of the youth service in accordance with the youth’s dynamic and spontaneous ne
eds. The Aim is supported by the five underlying principles:
• A commitment to preparing young people for participation in economic projects.
• The promotion of unity in tribal diversity.
• The promotion of acceptance and understanding of others.
• The development of appropriate values and beliefs.
• A commitment to promotion of peace and non-violent conflict resolution methods. The Organization will be guided by the following objectives:
• To inform the youths in Kenya about affirmative action and their rights as provided for in the constitution of Kenya, as well as international legal frame work aimed at supporting young people.
• To work closely with local and national leaders to promote the well being of the youths.
• To inform the youths in Kenya about available incentives and social economic opportunities provided by the Government of Kenya and other national and international bodies.
• Promoting the health and well-being of the youths and working together regardless of age variance, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief or political affiliation recognising the value of our many differences.
• To discourage drugs and alcohol abuse among the youths as well as within the Larger Kenyan community.
• To promote appropriate capacity building activities, campaigns and educational activities aimed at possibly eliminating or reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS among the youths in Kenya.
• To encourage young people to participate in a wide range of economic and social activities appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• To assist young people in their personal and social development so as to encourage growth in self esteem and confidence and help young people to learn from their experiences and cope with positive and critical feedback.
• To help young people to participate in life as a Unit, to express their views and play an active part in their planning and management of their own activities.
• To help young people to gain a greater understanding and respect for their own traditions and those of others by engaging in programs that reflect the principles of equality, diversity and inter dependence.
• To assist young people to become aware of their rights and responsibilities as active citizens.
• Work with similar groups and exchange information and advice with them.
• Take any action that is lawful, which would help it to fulfill its aims.
• To promote the welfare and safety of young people at all times
