KIE EXPLORES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH LIBERATING EDUCATION ORGANIZATION TO ADVANCE MSME DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION.

KIE Managing Director, Mr. Nelson Nelson M. Kwamini today hosted a delegation from the Liberating Education Organization (LEO) of Germany. The team comprised of Mr. Konstantin Kölmel (CEO & Co-Founder) Mr. Nils Rauscher (Co-Founder) and Mr. Kelvin N. Mbau (Country Manager – Kenya).

The meeting explored potential collaboration and partnership in digital literacy and entrepreneurship training for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with a focus on leveraging synergies between the two organisations to strengthen enterprise development.

The LEO team reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to practical digital skills and entrepreneurship training through blended learning approaches and community based learning centres.

The KIE MD welcomed the proposal to establish Centres of Excellence across KIE branches nationwide. The model seeks to integrate digital learning platforms, in person training, mentorship and enterprise support services to enhance MSME capacity building.

The discussions also explored the establishment of agri processing common user facilities to promote value addition and support the growth of cottage industries in line with the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development strategy under Cabinet Secretary Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya

The proposed collaboration aligns with the Government’s MSME development agenda under the State Department for MSMEs Development led by Principal Secretary Susan Auma Mang'eni Cbs aimed at strengthening enterprise capacity, innovation and productivity.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to fostering inclusive enterprise growth and accelerating digital transformation for MSMEs across the country.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kennedy Odweyo, Technical Assistant to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Co-operatives and MSMEs Development, alongside KIE departmental heads.

The WE4D SME_Loop Training in Vihiga County has successfully concluded, marking another strong step in strengthening MSMEs through practical, hands-on learning.
Participants went through key business areas including Business Model Canvas 2, break-even analysis, costing fundamentals, Digital Marketing, operations control, governance and leadership, as well as business improvement pitching.
The sessions equipped entrepreneurs with practical skills to better structure their businesses, make informed financial decisions, improve market visibility, and strengthen overall enterprise performance.
With the training phase now complete, the programme now progresses to Coaching Phase 2, where MSMEs will continue receiving tailored support to scale and sustain their growth.

The WE4D SME_Loop Training in Kisumu County has successfully concluded, marking another impactful phase in empowering MSMEs with practical business knowledge and growth-driven skills.
Throughout the training, participants engaged in key areas including Business Model Canvas 2, break-even concepts, costing fundamentals, Digital Marketing, operations control, governance and leadership, as well as business improvement pitching.
The sessions equipped entrepreneurs with practical tools to strengthen business structures, improve decision-making, enhance market visibility, and build more resilient enterprises.

UASIN GISHU MSMEs EMBRACE PRACTICAL BUSINESS TRAINING.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from across Uasin Gishu County today began an intensive capacity building programme in Eldoret City under the WE4D SME Loop Training, marking the start of a transformative journey aimed at strengthening enterprise growth and sustainability.

The training brings together entrepreneurs from across Uasin Gishu county for a series of practical and interactive sessions focused on enhancing business competitiveness, innovation and long-term resilience.

Participants have been taken through key business development modules including the Business Model Canvas, the Ansoff Growth Matrix, business formalization, as well as a recap of Training and Coaching 1.

The sessions provides MSMEs with practical tools and market driven strategies to improve operations, identify growth opportunities and position their enterprises for expansion.

Speaking during the opening session, Team Leader Foster Rono has lauded the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the entrepreneurs, noting that the strong turnout and active participation reflect the growing appetite among MSMEs for structured business support and mentorship.

He has reaffirmed KIEs commitment to empowering local enterprises through practical training, strategic partnerships and access to business development opportunities that stimulate economic growth and job creation at the grassroots level.

The training is being implemented through the partnership between Kenya Industrial Estates and Stanbic Bank Kenya under the WE4D SME Loop initiative, a programme designed to equip entrepreneurs with relevant skills and knowledge necessary for sustainable enterprise development.

The Eldoret training sessions amongst other across the country will continue over the coming days as KIE and its partners advances their broader mandate of nurturing enterprises, supporting industrial development and fostering inclusive economic transformation.

EQUIPPING MSMEs WITH PRACTICAL BUSINESS SKILLS FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH.

The WE4D SME Loop Training in Kericho County entered its second day with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) undertaking intensive practical sessions designed to strengthen business growth and enterprise development..

Participants drawn from all 6 constituencies of Kericho County were taken through hands on modules including the Business Model Canvas, where entrepreneurs presented and refined their business ideas through peer engagement and expert feedback. An interactive “tennis ball exercise” simplified key concepts around costing, operations and business efficiency, enabling participants to better understand practical enterprise management.

The training also featured a focused session on digital marketing, equipping MSMEs with strategies on brand positioning, market expansion and leveraging on online platforms to enhance visibility and customer engagement in an increasingly digital economy.

Implemented through a collaboration between Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) and Stanbic Bank Kenya under the WE4D SME Loop Programme, the training continues to provide entrepreneurs with practical, market driven skills aimed at improving enterprise competitiveness and sustainability.

By integrating business strategy, operational efficiency and digital innovation, the programme is nurturing resilient MSMEs that are better positioned to create jobs, expand opportunities and contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

KIE CONDUCTS MIDTERM REVIEW OF ITS STRATEGIC PLAN 2023-2027.

Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) convened its Technical Committee for a mid-term review of the organization’s Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

The technical team comprises of Head Of Departments, Regional Managers together with the consultants and the National Treasury officials.

The review assesses progress made since the plan’s rollout in July 2023, taking stock of key achievements and milestones delivered in support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises across Kenya. It also provides a platform to identify emerging issues in the operating environment and to reflect on lessons learned during the first half of the implementation phase.

Guided by the 5th Generation Strategic Plans guidelines from the State Department for Economic Planning, the process will inform adjustments and recommendations to enhance KIE’s effectiveness and impact in the final phase of the plan.

The outcome will shape a comprehensive, forward looking roadmap to guide KIE’s initiatives and operations up to 2028, reinforcing the organization’s mandate to drive industrialization and enterprise development in Kenya.

KIE remains committed to building a resilient MSME ecosystem that creates jobs, drives innovation and contributes to sustainable economic growth.
