‎I am delighted to see the Southrift Digital Hub (Kimawit) fast taking shape, with construction now 99% complete. This transformative project, proudly sponsored by the Safaricom Foundation, is a clear testament to what is possible when vision, community, and partnership come together.
‎
‎ Today, during my weekend inspection of the site, I felt immense joy seeing our shared dream almost becoming a reality.
‎
‎ Soon, the hub will open its doors to learners and the entire community, creating new opportunities for digital skills, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
‎
The centre is also set to partner with universities and other organisations, ensuring that our young people gain access to training, mentorship, and pathways into the digital economy.
‎
‎Indeed, a brighter and more empowered future for our community is within reach.

‎It is unbelievable and heartbreaking to hear the untimely news of Johanna Ngeno-Ngong, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, whose life was tragically cut short in a chopper crash this evening. The shock of this sudden loss has gripped not only South Rift but the entire nation. A vibrant life, a courageous leader, and a dependable voice has been silenced in a moment we never anticipated.

‎Johanna Ngeno was bold, boldly outspoken, boldly committed, and boldly protective of his people. He spoke his mind without fear, defending his electorate with unwavering conviction. He stood firm where others hesitated. He championed development and empowerment, believing that leadership was not about position, but about impact.
‎
‎ As the proud son of South Rift, he invested in his community wholeheartedly. Through initiatives like the annual Kalenjin Music Awards, he uplifted local musicians and celebrated culture, proving that empowerment goes beyond politics, it touches talent, identity, and opportunity.
‎
‎He was a defender of justice and equity, especially for the voiceless. He understood the struggles of ordinary citizens and did not shy away from confronting injustice. His leadership was marked by courage and conviction. His loss leaves a painful void, in Emurua Dikirr, in South Rift, and across Kenya. A strong pillar has fallen. A fearless voice has gone quiet.

‎As we mourn this great loss, may we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and love for his people. May his family find strength in this difficult hour. May South Rift remain united in the vision he carried.

‎After several days of mourning, today I stood with family, friends, and scholars from across the country at Chebirbelek in Sotik, Bomet County, to bid farewell to my close friend and fellow scholar, Prof. Wilson Kipruto Cheruiyot, as we escorted him to his eternal rest.
‎
‎In mourning a mind so luminous and a spirit so revolutionary, we are gently reminded of life’s fragile brevity. Yet even in death, his voice still speaks, urging us to stretch beyond comfort, to pursue excellence without apology, and to rise to every humanly attainable height not only in education but in every worthy cause our hands find to do.
‎
‎Prof. Cheruiyot’s academic journey was a testament to that very pursuit of excellence. He attained both his Master’s and PhD studies in China, scaling global scholarly heights with quiet determination and distinction. Until his passing, he served diligently as a Professor at Taita Taveta University, where he also held the esteemed position of Dean, School of Applied Sciences and Informatics, Previously served as Associate professor of computer science and Acting Director of the institute of computer science JKUAT,shaping minds and influencing futures.

‎To the family, may God’s unfailing comfort cradle your hearts in this season of loss. The indelible imprint he has left on generations of students, colleagues, and institutions will outlive the silence of the grave, a legacy written not in ink, but in transformed lives.

‎Today at FairHills Hotel in Bomet, I am honoured to host teachers and BOM members from Uswet Comprehensive school and Kimawit Secondary for a special retreat I proudly sponsored. This is a moment to appreciate and motivate the men and women who work tirelessly to shape our children’s future.
‎
‎We recently celebrated the strong 2025 academic performance in both schools. The results were earned through discipline, teamwork and sacrifice. I had promised the teachers that if they performed well, I would organise a retreat to honour them, and today, I am simply keeping that promise.
‎
‎During our sessions, we reviewed past performance, set clear targets and aligned future strategies, taking full advantage of technology to improve learning outcomes. Most importantly, we agreed to work as one unified team, focused on excellence and continuous improvement.
‎
‎Over the years, I have supported both schools through infrastructure development because a good learning environment matters. But beyond buildings and facilities, the most important investment is the teacher. When teachers are motivated, students succeed.
‎
‎Appreciation must be a culture, not just an event. Together, we will continue raising standards and building a brighter future for our children.

Today at Rapids Camp, Sagana, I joined fellow members of the Murang’a County Budget and Economic Forum for a strategic session that affirmed one clear message, devolution is delivering, and Murang’a is ahead of the curve. With solid updates on county investments and a bold 2025/2026 Budget outlook, our focus remains firm: smart growth, fiscal discipline, and development that touches lives.

We reviewed the transformative Food for Education School Feeding Programme, a powerful reminder that when we nourish our children, we secure our future. This is devolution with impact.

The progress of the MyMurang’a App stood out as a symbol of modern governance, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and direct citizen engagement. Innovation is driving service delivery closer to the people.

Murang’a is not just talking devolution, we are living it. With accountable leadership and purposeful investment, the momentum is strong and the future is boldly Murang’a.

‎Today, I am deeply encouraged to see Stacey Chelangat back in school where she belongs. Stacey, a bright and determined Form Three student at Kamureito Secondary School and an active member of the scouting club, had been forced to stay at home due to lack of school fees. Like many deserving students, her only obstacle was not ability, but financial hardship.
‎
‎When her mother reached out to me and shared her situation, I listened carefully and took immediate action. I strongly believe that no child should watch their dreams fade simply because of school fees. Education remains the most powerful equalizer in our society, and every child deserves a fair chance to succeed.
‎
‎I am pleased to confirm that Stacey has officially reported back to school today. This is not charity, it is an investment in talent, discipline, and future leadership.
‎
‎Supporting Stacey is part of my broader commitment to empowering young people and ensuring that bright minds are not lost due to financial challenges. When we stand up for one child, we stand up for the future of our community.

This morning, I met with the project team at the South Rift Digital Hub (Kimawit) to assess the progress of ongoing development projects expected to be completed within the next three weeks, Programs shall officially begin mid-March. It was encouraging to witness the commitment and steady strides being made toward delivering a project that will significantly benefit the community. Sustainable growth requires consistency, teamwork, and accountability — values clearly reflected in today’s engagement.

I also held a strategic meeting with the principals of Kimawit schools to discuss our roadmap for the year ahead. Education remains the cornerstone of transformation, and through collaborative planning, we are laying a strong foundation for improved performance, innovation, and holistic development of our learners.

Later in the day, I joined the family of the late Pastor Samuel Soy( Chepseon,) of Uswet Village, to offer my condolences during this difficult time as Scripture reminds us in Romans 12:15 to “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn,” a call that speaks deeply to our shared humanity and compassion.

As we mourn this great loss, we stand in solidarity with the family, praying that God grants them strength, comfort, and peace that surpasses understanding. May Pastor Soy’s legacy of faith and service continue to inspire us all.

‎It is with deep sorrow that I join the family, friends and the academic community in mourning the untimely passing of Professor Wilson Kipruto Cheruiyot. We have lost not only a distinguished scholar, but a humble leader and devoted servant of knowledge. His absence will be felt far beyond Taita Taveta University, where he served as Dean of the School of Science and Informatics, for he was a pillar of mentorship, integrity, and unwavering academic excellence, whose work elevated both people and institutions.

‎Born and raised in Sotik, Bomet, county,Professor Cheruiyot’s journey reflected discipline, vision, and a remarkable global perspective. His pursuit of Computer Technology and Applications in China endowed him with rare expertise, which he selflessly brought back to ignite minds and strengthen academic programmes at home. His life stands as a shining testament to the transformative power of education.

‎In our recent engagements, Professor Cheruiyot and I shared a passionate vision for the future of Artificial Intelligence and its potential to uplift rural communities. We eagerly anticipated collaborating through the upcoming South Rift ICT Hub (Kimawit ) to expand access, knowledge, and opportunity in ICT and AI technologies for the benefit of our people. His sudden departure has silenced a brilliant, forward-thinking mind whose ideas were poised to shape the future.

‎On my own behalf and on behalf of the academic fraternity, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and students during this difficult time. May God grant his family comfort, strength, and peace as they walk through this profound loss. ‎On my first day at Rongo University, I had the privilege of inspecting several transformative projects currently under construction.
‎
‎ These included modern student hostels developed under the Affordable Housing Programme, a water treatment plant to strengthen sustainability and service delivery, and a state-of-the-art Science Library designed to advance research, innovation, and academic excellence.
‎
‎These developments reflect a forward-looking institution committed to providing a conducive learning environment and equipping our students and faculty with the facilities they need to thrive. Such investments are not merely physical structures, but foundations upon which the future of our university and our nation will be built.
‎
‎As Chancellor, I am deeply encouraged by this vision and progress. I remain fully committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen infrastructure, enhance academic standards, and position the university as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and community impact.

I was deeply honoured to be officially received this morning, at Rongo University as Chancellor by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Samuel Gudu, the Council Chairperson, Dr Catherine Wangeci, and esteemed members of the University Council. The warmth of the reception, the spirit of unity, and the evident passion for excellence gave me great confidence in the bright future of this noble institution.

Walking through the university and interacting with its leadership reminded me that this is more than a place of learning, it is a centre where dreams are nurtured, destinies are shaped, and the future of our nation is quietly being built. I assume this responsibility with humility, gratitude, and a deep personal commitment to serve and support this shared vision.

I extend my sincere appreciation to His Excellency President William Ruto for the honour and trust bestowed upon me through this appointment. I am grateful for the confidence placed in me, and I pledge to uphold the values of integrity, service, and excellence that this office demands.

I look forward to working closely with the Council, management, staff, students, and all stakeholders to strengthen the university’s impact and legacy. Together, we will build an institution that not only imparts knowledge but also inspires hope, transforms lives, and contributes meaningfully to our society and nation.
