A significant moment at the Kenya National Health Summit 2026 as H.E. President William Ruto, accompanied by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, CS Hon. Aden Duale, Nairobi Governor Hon. Johnson Sakaja and other leaders, visited the Digital Health Agency (DHA) booth.

The delegation was briefed on how digital health solutions are transforming healthcare delivery through improved efficiency, reduced paperwork, better resource use and faster access to services.

At the DHA booth, we showcased Afyangu, Practice 360, Claims Management Systems, NLMIS and Track & Trace, alongside key areas including data protection, interoperability, data portability through NHIE and facility digitisation.

Present during the engagement were DHA Chairman Mr. Silas Simatwo and CEO Eng. Anthony Lenaiyara, with the CEO highlighting Kenya’s digital connectivity agenda and how connected infrastructure is strengthening the health system.

During the official opening, President William Ruto highlighted progress in health-sector reforms, with emphasis on the Social Health Authority (SHA), digital health, healthcare financing and access to healthcare.
CS Hon. Aden Duale outlined ongoing reforms in SHA, digital health, primary healthcare and health-system strengthening, noting Kenya’s growing recognition as a model for digital transformation.

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula highlighted Parliament’s role in establishing the legislative framework supporting health-sector reforms.
Day 1 also marked a major milestone with the launch of four key digital health instruments by CS Hon. Aden Duale:

• Kenya Digital Health Strategy
• Digital Health Solutions Standards and Guidelines
• Kenya Health Enterprise Architecture Blueprint
• Kenya Health Data Governance Framework

Together, these initiatives strengthen the foundation for a secure, interoperable, data-driven and digitally enabled health system that supports sustainable Universal Health Coverage for all Kenyans.

The Digital Health Agency (DHA) led by the Chairman Mr. Silas Simatwo and CEO Eng .Anthony Lenaiyara, hosted a successful engagement bringing together WHO, UNICEF and development partners to reflect on Kenya’s digital health transformation journey and the opportunities ahead.

The engagement provided an opportunity to share perspectives on digital health systems, data governance, analytics, interoperability and innovation, while highlighting the progress being made towards a more connected and efficient health information ecosystem.

Discussions also touched on the Health Data Lake, national health analytics and intelligence solutions, public health reporting and surveillance, as well as emerging technologies such as AI and advanced analytics.

Importantly, the discussions reinforced the need for strong governance, privacy, security and responsible data management as we continue to strengthen Kenya’s digital health ecosystem.

The engagement was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships around a shared goal: using digital technology and trusted information to support better planning, better services and better health outcomes for Kenyans.

Digital Health Officers Flagged Off to All 47 Counties

The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale joined the Chairman of the Digital Health Agency, Mr. Silas Simatwo and the Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Anthony Lenaiyara together with the DHA Board of Directors, management and staff to the official flag-off of County Digital Health Officers to all 47 counties.

The event was dubbed “Realization of UHC: Strengthening the Digital Health Ecosystem in Counties through the Deployment of Digital Health Officers to All Counties.”

The CS challenged the officers to champion this transformation at county level with integrity, professionalism, accountability and innovation, working closely with County Health Management Teams to ensure digital health solutions translate into better and more responsive healthcare for every Kenyan.

Also, the chairman and the CEO addressed the meeting and encouraged the newly deployed Digital Health Officers to remain dynamic, innovative, and solution-oriented, emphasizing the importance of making impactful decisions that address challenges at the county level while contributing to the realization of the Digital Health Agency’s mandate.

The DHA leadership expressed their appreciation to the Cabinet Secretary for his leadership and continued support in advancing the health sector.

In attendance were Principal Secretary for Health, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and Dr. Daniel Mwai, the President’s Advisor on Health Financing.

The deployment of Digital Health Officers marks an important step toward strengthening digital health systems across the counties and supporting the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

County Project Officers and Assistants today had the pleasure of meeting the Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Health Agency, Eng. Antony Lenaiyara, during an interactive orientation session aimed at preparing them for deployment to the various counties across the country.

The orientation program is designed to equip the officers with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively support the counties in the digitalization of healthcare initiatives and help in addressing challenges experienced.

During the session, Eng. Lenaiyara congratulated the officers on their successful selection from a highly competitive pool of over 2,500 applicants. He encouraged them to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and commitment in executing their responsibilities, emphasizing the important role they will play in strengthening digital health services at the county level.

The CEO also assured the officers of the Agency's full support as they undertake their assignments, reaffirming the Digital Health Agency's commitment to empowering its workforce and fostering successful collaboration with county governments to enhance healthcare service delivery.
