I represented our Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Ethekon at the launch of the Jukwaa la Wasomi Mediation and Prevention Security Programme, hosted by UCSPAK at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies. I was glad to be joined by PS Dr. Raymond Omollo, CBS, as we marked the start of this initiative, implemented by UCSPAK with the Ministry of Interior, the Judiciary, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and other security agencies, to equip student leaders, principals, deputy principals, and chief security officers in TVET institutions with mediation and conflict resolution skills for safer, more peaceful campuses.

I reaffirmed that sees young people as the leaders of today, not just tomorrow, citing our ECVR exercise where over 12,000 youths supported voter registration nationwide. I urged young people to verify information before sharing it, helping curb misinformation as we work toward free, fair and peaceful elections.

Today I attended the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026 at the Kenya School of Government, Nairobi, as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Commissioner and Chairperson of the Voter Education, Partnerships, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Committee. Held under the theme "Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery," the conference brought together government, private sector, development partners and academia to advance reforms in service delivery, revenue generation and institutional accountability.

With the public wage bill at 40.64% of ordinary revenue in 2024/2025, discussions focused on linking productivity to performance and remuneration. I remain committed to strategies that enhance efficiency, strengthen revenue mobilization and position Kenya among global leaders in productivity.

It was my honour to represent Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Ethekon at the COMESA Regional Training in Machakos County today, delivering his keynote address themed "Anchoring the African Dream: Modern Foundations of Electoral Governance." The session brought together Election Management Bodies from across the continent to address a shared challenge, building and sustaining genuine public trust through transparent, efficient and inclusive electoral governance frameworks, with a particular focus on modernizing observer accreditation and civic engagement systems.

At IEBC, we have transitioned from manual processes to agile digital platforms and forums like COMESA workshop are exactly the collaborative incubators that drive that progress. The Chairperson's message was explicit. We must stop diagnosing old problems and start codifying pan-African governance standards that balance institutional security with genuine public participation ensuring grassroots organisations, youth networks and persons with disabilities all have a seat at the democratic table. I wish the delegates two days of productive and transformative deliberations.

Today, I participated at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) workshop reviewing the Commission's Information Security Management System (ISMS) and ICT policy documents in line with ISO requirements. The workshop, officially opened by my fellow Commissioner Marykaren Sorobit on behalf of Commissioner Prof. Francis Aduol, Chairperson of the Research, Innovation and ICT Committee, brought together key stakeholders to strengthen the Commission's information security and governance frameworks. Commissioner Sorobit underscored the importance of regularly reviewing institutional policies, noting that robust and up-to-date policy frameworks are essential for building strong, resilient and accountable institutions.

In the meeting I observed that the exercise provided a critical opportunity for the Commission to align its policy documents with operational realities, emerging risks and evolving technological demands, noting that well-crafted policies are key to strengthening governance structures and enhancing risk management. The workshop is expected to produce updated policy documents that will enhance information security and support the Commission's strategic objectives.

Together with my fellow Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Commissioners, Commissioner Hassan Noor Hassan, Prof. Francis Aduol and MaryKaren Sorobit, we paid a courtesy visit to Kenya's High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Ababu Namwamba at his offices in Kampala. The meeting focused on electoral preparedness, Diaspora voter registration and institutional strengthening, with H.E. Namwamba underscoring Uganda's strategic significance as a key registration centre and polling station for Kenyan Diaspora voters given the high volume of movement between the two countries.

The Commissioners briefed on progress under the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, boundary delimitation updates and plans to expand polling infrastructure and voter education. Discussions also covered strengthening Diaspora engagement and bilateral educational collaboration. The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to regional cooperation and citizen participation.

Honored to represent the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Chairperson today at the Joint Dialogue on Citizen Election Observer Accreditation in Africa, co-hosted by NDI, the Association of African Election Authorities (AAEA) and the African Election Observers Network (AfEONet) at the Pan Pacific in Nairobi. Alongside senior electoral commissioners and civil society leaders from Ghana, Malawi, DRC, South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya, we are engaging in frank, solution-oriented conversations about one of democracy's critical building blocks, the accreditation of citizen election observers. From administrative burdens and tight timelines to logistical constraints, we will engage in real challenges and review draft global guidelines aimed at setting strong, universal principles for the continent.

Elections belong to the people and independent citizen observation is what keeps electoral processes transparent and accountable. At IEBC, we recognize that accreditation systems must evolve, must be efficient, fair and inclusive, especially for women, youth, persons with disabilities and grassroots civic organizations. The constructive engagement between EMBs and observer groups over these two days reinforces a shared continental commitment strengthening public trust in elections and deepening democratic participation across Africa.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) today validated its 2024 - 2029 Strategic Plan and 2025 - 2027 Electoral Operations Plan with external stakeholders. Vice-Chairperson Fahima Araphat Abdallah emphasized the Commission's commitment to transparency, stakeholder engagement and delivering a credible, inclusive 2027 General Election built on four pillars: Managing Elections, Citizen Engagement, Equitable Representation and Institutional Resilience.

Together with fellow Commissioners, we underscored the importance of stakeholder input in strengthening these frameworks. Stakeholders have 14 days to submit proposals via breakout sessions, email, or memoranda before the plans are finalized. Kenya's 2027 election preparations are firmly on track.
