The three year project will contribute towards the implementation of the
National Climate Change Action Plan (2013- 2017) which has the overarching goal of enhancing
low carbon climate resilient development blueprint –Vision 2030. The LECRD Project has six (6) outcomes namely:
Strengthen the national climate change coordination processes;
Contribute toward enhancing access to clean and efficient e
nergy systems;
Support development of a national sustainable greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory system;
Facilitate improved national and county decision making on climate change interventions;
Support capacity building of climate knowledge management system;
Contribute towards minimizing the impacts of extreme climate events for improved and resilient
livelihoods
The project has the overall objective of supporting Kenya’s efforts to pursue long- term,
transformative development and accelerate sustainable climate resilient economic growth, while
slowing the growth of greenhouse gas emissions. It will facilitate the implementation of the National
Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP). The NCCAP has the goal of enhancing Kenya’s low carbon
climate resilient development. The project will support Kenya’s efforts to pursue long-term,
transformative development and accelerate sustainable, climate-resilient economic growth while
slowing the growth of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It will thus help Kenya meet its
international commitments; accesses finance, and integrate climate change considerations into its
long term planning.
