Mr President, when you come to Murang'a, Baringo, Kisii, Siaya or anywhere else in Kenya, there is something many ordinary people would rather hear about:

Us.

Tell the mama mboga:

“I know biashara imekuwa ngumu. I know some evenings you go home with almost nothing.”

Tell the boda boda rider:

“I know after fuel, food and everything else, sometimes what remains cannot pay school fees.”

Tell the parent:

Tell the young graduate:

Tell us what our government is doing about those things.

Instead, we are being invited into a quarrel between two billionaires.

Uhuru betrayed me.

In 1997, when you were running for Mp for the first time, Edwin Sifuna was just a young boy in Class Three.

You had the advantage of being backed by the most powerful political establishment of that time. The story told by many people from that era is that Moi used money and influence to persuade or "bribe" your opponents to withdraw from the race. With your opponents out of the way, you were eventually elected unopposed in 1997.

Now look at where we are today.

That small boy who was in Class Three when your political career was taking off is now standing up and saying, “I want to be President of Kenya in 2027.”

And yesterday, in Tharaka-Nithi, the home county of Kithure Kindiki, you said that you do not want to be Deputy President in 2027 and that Kindiki should take that position.

That is your political choice.

But what angered many of us is that while endorsing Kindiki for Deputy President, you were at the same time mocking the young man Sifuna, saying he has no political party and is going nowhere.
