For many years, I struggled with alcoholism. It affected my health, relationships, finances, and my sense of purpose. There were moments when I felt hopeless, but I made a decision to seek help, embrace recovery, and rebuild my life.
Today, I stand grateful for the gift of sobriety and for everyone who supported me on this journey. Recovery taught me resilience, accountability, humility, and the importance of serving others with compassion.
I do not hide my past because it is part of my testimony. It reminds me that people can change, heal, and become agents of hope in their communities. My experience has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges many families in Ruring'u Ward face, including addiction, unemployment, mental health struggles, and social exclusion.
As I aspire to serve as MCA for Ruring'u Ward, I bring not only vision and commitment but also lived experience. I believe leadership is not about perfection; it is about integrity, growth, and the willingness to use our experiences to uplift others.
To anyone struggling with addiction today, know that recovery is possible. There is hope, there is help, and there is a future beyond addiction.
Together, let us build a healthier, stronger, and more compassionate Ruring'u Ward.
