Deputy President 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 Kithure Kindiki today represented President William William Samoei Ruto at the Official Opening of the 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘇𝘂, 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗮.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy President noted that oceans around the world continue to face significant human-induced pressures, including ecosystem degradation, pollution, and other harmful activities that threaten marine biodiversity and livelihoods.
He reaffirmed Kenya's commitment to sustainably harnessing the resources of the Indian Ocean to empower coastal communities while safeguarding marine ecosystems for present and future generations.
The Deputy President emphasized that the current generation has a responsibility to protect the ocean, guided by the belief that we have borrowed it from our children and must return it to them cleaner, safer, and in a better condition than we found it.

At Harambee House, Nairobi, Deputy President 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 Kithure Kindiki reported that the Government is implementing recommendations from the Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide through legislative, policy, and administrative measures, alongside public awareness campaigns. He noted that the GBV and Femicide report has been directed for immediate Cabinet and Parliamentary consideration to support reforms aimed at addressing violence against women, men, and children.
