Last year, I had privileged of attending a vibrant ceremony at the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) which marked a historic milestone as 147 skilled workers received formal certification through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) project.

A very important program which is restoring dignity to Kenya’s skilled workforce, Let's understand that “learning is not confined to classrooms.”

The initiative, supported by the African Union, EU, GIZ, KfW, and MDF Training & Consultancy, aligns with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by turning practical experience into recognized qualifications that open doors to jobs and enterprise growth.

Today afternoon, I joined the family of my Personal Assistant, Mr. Samuel Ayata, Kileleshwa Nairobi, in mourning the loss of their beloved mother, the late Mrs. Jane Jael Ayata, who passed away on Saturday, 8th August 2026, at The Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, after a long illness bravely borne.

I conveyed my heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult period and shared in their grief and sorrow. The loss of a loved one is never easy, but we find comfort in the assurance that God remains with us even in our darkest moments.

As we mourn mama Jane, I encouraged the family to put their trust in God and surrender everything to Him, knowing that His wisdom is beyond our understanding. As Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5–6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

May the family find strength, comfort and peace in God’s unfailing love, and may they be assured that He understands the pain of their loss. May the soul of Mrs. Jane Jael Ayata rest in eternal peace.

Yesterday,I was privileged to meet with the church leadership and parishioners at ACK Kiwalwa church in Taveta, Taita Taveta County, where we discussed ongoing community outreach programmes and ways of strengthening engagement with the local community.

The meeting provided an opportunity to listen to the views and aspirations of the congregation while reflecting on initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing and livelihoods of residents.
