A heartfelt tête-à-tête with my beloved mothers, sisters, and respected elders of Habaswein.

Their wisdom, prayers, and unwavering commitment to our community continue to inspire us all.

Listening to their concerns, aspirations, and ideas for a better future reminded me that true leadership begins by listening to the people.

Together, we discussed development, opportunities for our youth and women, and the collective journey toward a more prosperous Habaswein.

May Allah bless our women and elders, the pillars of our families and the guardians of our values.

Eldas, maanta waa maalinteenna.

Today was a proud and historic day for the people of Eldas and Wajir County.

We witnessed the commissioning of a 580-bed student hostel at Eldas Teachers Training College, a major investment that will expand access to teacher training and empower more young people from our region to pursue their dreams.

Simply put, we are producing more teachers, trained right here in Eldas.

H.E. President William Samoei Ruto also commissioned the KSh460 million Eldas Water Supply Project and committed an additional KSh900 million to further improve water access for our people.

For a region that has struggled with water scarcity for decades, this investment represents dignity, opportunity, better health, and a brighter future.

From roads to water, schools to markets, electricity to affordable housing, Wajir County is increasingly enjoying the fruits of a united, inclusive, and development-focused Kenya, under H.E President William Ruto.

I sincerely thank the wonderful people of Eldas for the warmth, hospitality, and overwhelming support accorded to our guests and leaders led by H.E. President William Ruto.

Rer Eldas, maanta sidii aad nooga farxiseen, Ilaahay ha idinka farxiyo.

Today, I had the honour of accompanying H.E. President William Samoei Ruto and fellow leaders from the North Eastern region as we inspected the ongoing construction of the 64-kilometre Tarbaj–Kotulo Road in Tarbaj Constituency, Wajir County.

This transformative project forms part of the historic 750-kilometre Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project, spanning from Isiolo to Mandera at a cost of KSh100 billion, a bold investment that is reshaping the economic future of Northern Kenya.

For decades, the immense potential of Wajir County has been constrained by inadequate infrastructure.

During rainy seasons, roads became impassable, isolating communities, disrupting trade, and limiting access to essential services. Today, that story is changing before our eyes.

This road is more than tarmac and concrete. It is a corridor of opportunity, a pathway to prosperity, and a bridge connecting our people to markets, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

Once completed, it will significantly reduce transportation costs, enhance mobility, accelerate trade, and unlock new opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly our women and youth who are the backbone of our local economy.

As a strategic gateway to the Horn of Africa, Wajir stands at the threshold of a new era. Enhanced connectivity will stimulate investment, create jobs, expand commerce, and position our county as a critical hub for regional growth and integration.

I am deeply impressed by the people of Tarbaj and the wider Wajir community for their unwavering cooperation, patience, and support throughout the implementation of this project. Their partnership with contractors and government agencies demonstrates a shared commitment to development and progress.

In my lifetime, today stands as one of the most memorable and emotional days I have ever witnessed.

Celebrating Madaraka Day on our home soil at Wajir Stadium was more than a national event—it was a historic moment that filled our hearts with pride, gratitude, and hope.

Hosting H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, senior national leaders, distinguished guests, and thousands of fellow Kenyans who filled the stadium means so much to the people of Wajir and the entire North Eastern region. It was a powerful affirmation that every corner of our nation matters and that Kenya's story belongs to all of us.

As I joined thousands of wananchi in witnessing this great occasion, I felt immense pride. We were not only honouring the heroes and heroines who fought for our nation's self-governance and freedom, but also celebrating the dreams, resilience, and sacrifices of Wajir's own heroes and heroines who endured countless challenges so that future generations could enjoy the opportunities we have today.

To the wonderful people of Wajir from every constituency, ward, and village across our great county: for the past several months, you have worked tirelessly, sacrificed greatly, and demonstrated the true spirit of hospitality. You welcomed our guests with warmth, dignity, and generosity, making everyone feel at home. May Allah bless each one of you abundantly.

Having attended several national celebrations before, I can confidently say that nothing compares to experiencing Madaraka Day in our beloved hometown of Wajir. This was not just a celebration; it was history in the making.

I extend my sincere gratitude to H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for championing the rotational hosting of national celebrations and for making history by bringing this national event to the North Eastern region for the first time.

This decision has given our people a profound sense of belonging and recognition within the Kenyan family.

I was equally honoured to receive and interact with the leadership of Parliament, including Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, fellow elected leaders, nominated leaders, and distinguished guests who joined us on this historic occasion.

Today, Wajir demonstrated to the nation what unity, hospitality, resilience, and patriotism look like. We have shown that when given an opportunity, our people rise to the occasion with excellence and pride.

As we commemorate Madaraka Day, may we continue building a united, inclusive, and prosperous Kenya where every region, every community, and every citizen has a place at the national table.

Wajir deel deel, laguma gaaro.

May Allah bless Wajir County, and may Allah bless Kenya.

I had the honour of accompanying H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya, during the commencement of his official development tour of Wajir County, beginning in Habaswein, Wajir South Constituency.

I was delighted to welcome the President to Wajir; the gateway to opportunity and a county undergoing remarkable transformation.

Over the past months, our people have witnessed unprecedented development through the expansion of road infrastructure, installation of modern street lighting, improvement of healthcare facilities, upgrading of Wajir Stadium, and significant investments aimed at enhancing access to reliable power.

In my address, I conveyed the profound appreciation of the people of Wajir for the President’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and his determination to ensure that historically marginalized regions receive their fair share of national investment and attention.

His leadership continues to demonstrate that no region and no community should be left behind in Kenya’s development journey.

On behalf of the women, youth, and mothers of Wajir County, I reaffirmed our confidence in his leadership and assured him of our steadfast support as he continues to champion the transformation agenda that is delivering tangible results to our people.

I also took the opportunity to appeal for enhanced support towards women and youth empowerment initiatives in Wajir County, particularly through the strengthening of dedicated development funds and economic empowerment programmes that will create opportunities, build livelihoods, and unlock the immense potential of our young people and women.

It is with great honour and immense pride that I take this opportunity to warmly welcome His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya, to Wajir County as he embarks on his official development tour across our sub-counties.

His visit reflects the Government’s continued commitment to inclusive development and ensuring that every part of our nation shares in the promise of progress and prosperity. It is also a testament to the growing significance of Wajir and the wider North Eastern region in Kenya’s development journey.

We are particularly privileged that His Excellency will crown this historic visit by presiding over Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County, the first time in our nation’s history that this important national event will be held in the North Eastern region.

This is a proud milestone for our people and a powerful affirmation that every Kenyan, regardless of geography, is an equal stakeholder in our national destiny.

On behalf of the people of Wajir County, I extend a heartfelt Karibu Sana to H.E. the President and all distinguished guests accompanying him. We look forward to showcasing the warmth, unity, resilience, and hospitality of our people as we celebrate both our nation’s achievements and the limitless potential of our region.

Welcome to Wajir, Your Excellency.
