*Makueni County Crowned Firefighting Champions Again*

Makueni County has once again stamped its authority in emergency response after emerging Overall Winners at the 8th Annual Africa Fire Mission (AFM) Kenya Symposium and Competition held in Mombasa County at the Bandari Maritime Academy.

For the 4th consecutive year, Makueni Fire Fighting team scooped award for the best firefighting team and the best est EMT team

The week-long symposium brought together fire and EMS professionals from across Kenya for specialized training in Active Bleeding Control, Leadership Development, Mental Wellness
and Community Fire Safety.

The competition tested both knowledge and real life skills, including a full burning-building simulation where teams showed their prowess in firefighting as EMTs handled victims at the scene.

CECM for Devolution Nicholas Nzioka, while congratulating the team, praised their resilience and professionalism, reaffirming the County Government’s commitment to efficient and rapid disaster response.

Makueni beat top teams from Mombasa, Nairobi, Bomet, Nyeri, Kiambu and more cementing our place as Kenya’s leading firefighting powerhouse.

Tuesday, 3.6.2025 CFOA,K presented it's views to the National Assembly committee on regional development in regards to the ongoing Public Participation on the Fire and Rescue Services Professional Bill, 2023. (Senate Bill, no. 55/2023). Key among the 4 critical amendments to the bill include.

1. Establishing the institute of fire and rescue professionals that will ensure mandatory membership for all practitioners in the field just like LSK and ICPAK. The institute will ensure continuous training, ethics and welfare for firefighters.

2. 3 to 4 year transition period to allow the firefighters to upscale their credentials.

The matter was presented before the committee by the CFOA,K chairman, the legal consultant along side with CFOA,K Executive and representatives from its members.

Notably 70% of previous proposals in our Senate memo hd bn adopted. We hope to achieve even more after yesterday defense.

The Makueni county fire and rescue team participated in this year's county first aid competition held at the Makueni red cross branch. The team emerged winners 🏆 in corporate category and will be proceeding to regionals which will be held at Machakos county. Congratulations team.
