PSBU and Advocacy and Policy Institute Empower Students to Address Climate Change Through Digital Learning
Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist University (PSBU), in partnership with the Advocacy and Policy Institute (API), recently delivered a training programme titled "The Impacts of Climate Change and E-Learning Platforms", providing 70 students with the knowledge and skills to better understand environmental challenges and the role of digital education in promoting sustainable development.
Held in the Independence Hall on the University's 9th Floor, the programme was organised under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PSBU and the Advocacy and Policy Institute, demonstrating both organisations' shared commitment to developing informed, socially responsible, and environmentally conscious future leaders.
The training explored the growing impacts of climate change on communities while highlighting how e-learning platforms can expand access to environmental education and lifelong learning. Participants were encouraged to utilise digital technologies to strengthen their knowledge, develop practical skills, and become active contributors to environmental sustainability within their communities.
The initiative also reinforced the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and policy organisations in addressing global challenges through education, innovation, and community engagement.
This programme contributes directly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 4 – Quality Education, by providing inclusive, accessible, and high-quality learning opportunities;
SDG 5 – Gender Equality, by ensuring equal participation and access to learning for all students;
SDG 13 – Climate Action, by increasing awareness and understanding of climate change and environmental responsibility;
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by promoting informed citizenship and civic engagement; and
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through the successful collaboration between PSBU and the Advocacy and Policy Institute in advancing sustainable development.
Through initiatives such as this, PSBU continues to demonstrate its commitment to preparing graduates who are equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with the awareness, values, and leadership skills needed to address the complex global challenges of the future.
