Congratulations to Dr. Monique Freemon on earning the Civilian Service Achievement Medal! 👏
Public affairs professionals are usually the ones behind the camera, behind the keyboard, and behind the scenes helping tell the story of the mission. It's not often they become the story themselves.
This summer, Freemon deployed in support of the USACE Super Typhoon Sinlaku Recovery Mission in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, serving as the mission's Public Affairs Specialist.
During her deployment, she documented recovery operations across the islands, developed social media and news content highlighting mission progress, and shared the stories of the USACE team members supporting affected communities. Through her initiative and dedication, she helped ensure the public remained informed about the critical work taking place on the ground.
Her efforts included coordinating travel to remote project locations, conducting interviews with mission personnel, capturing operational milestones, and developing content that supported both current operations and the public affairs teams that followed her.
By helping tell the stories of the engineers, contracting professionals, power restoration teams, and emergency responders supporting the recovery mission, Freemon played an important role in keeping communities, stakeholders, and partners informed.
