Congratulations to Captain Jason Lykins for taking command of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 6-52 Air Defense Artillery Battalion!! You service to both the 2501 DLD and the Korean Army Ground Operations Command will sorely be missed but you undoubtedly will take the 35th ADA Brigade to the next level!

On Thursday, 4 January, four deserving KATUSAs were promoted, and two received awards for their exemplary performances while serving at the 2501st DLD. Corporal Jeong Ji Hoon was promoted to Sergeant, PFC Kwon Seong Woo (not pictured) was promoted to Corporal, PFC Lee Yong Jae was promoted to Corporal, and PV2 Ko Hyak Bin (not pictured) was promoted to PFC. SGT Jeong Ji Hoon and CPL Seo Jeong Ki Won were both awarded Certificates for being Outstanding KATUSAs. Congratulations!

Merry Christmas Eve from the Soldiers and Civilians of the 2501st DLD!
On Friday, 22 December, volunteers helped the Social Welfare Good Samaritan Home (선한사마리아원) by cleaning around its facilities, and re-painting areas that needed touching up. We also provided Christmas gifts, clothing, and other items to the children living there. Special thanks to the Martz Group, and Eweon Tudari for providing their own gifts and support, and thank you AFN and US 8th Army PAO for covering this memorable event!
At noon before returning to the orphanage after lunch, we spent some time with personnel from the GOC/GCC, Yongin University, and City Hall at our annual Christmas lunch. It was a very busy, but extraordinary day!

Earlier today, we hosted Doctor Sohui Jeong, Professor of Traditional Korean Music at Yongin University. She gave a class on the history and current use of the "Daegeum (대금)," a large transverse flute most easily recognizable in such important songs as "Arirang (아리랑)." This was a great opportunity for not only US Soldiers to learn about such an important piece of Korean culture, but our KATUSAs benefited from her in-depth, and thorough analysis of the instrument. Thank you Dr. Jeong!

Yesterday the DLD hosted our annual Thanksgiving lunch and it was one of the most successful we've had yet. We not only invited our ROK Army partners, but also members of the Yongin City community such as City Hall Officials, and professors and staff from Yongin University. It was a great opportunity for us to share this American holiday with our Republic of Korea partners. Most importantly for the Soldiers, they were able to have the best Thanksgiving experience they could while serving their country away from Family and friends.

Every year since 2021, the DLD has helped the less fortunate by volunteering their time and effort during annual Kimjang Kimchi Festivals hosted by Yongin City Hall and this year is no exception. On 14 November, members of the 2501st DLD/ CGCC and students and cadre from Yongin University's ROTC department helped make this year's Kimchi making festival the largest ever. Due to our outstanding efforts, the Yongin City Mayor thanked both of our organizations.

Last Wednesday was PT at Yongin University. Members of the DLD participated with the Wrestling Team where we learned how to do rolls, headstands, and other acrobatics before moving on to basic tackles and defensive moves. It was a great time!

As part of Camp Yongin's MOU with Yongin University, Dr. Gwak, Ju Hyeon gave a Yoga class to the Soldiers of the 2501st Digital Liaison Detachment on 17 October. She will give her second class next Tuesday, and thereafter other professors and staff will come to give classes on traditional Korean Arts and Music. This is a great opportunity for US personnel to experience Korean culture.

On 12 September, CPL Jeong, Ji Hun and Maj Blake Benedict won first place at the first round of the 23rd Annual Korean and English Speech contest hosted by the USAG-Humphreys ROKA Support Group. Both speeches focused on the importance of the ROK-US Alliance, and their personal experiences while serving in Korea. The second and final round will take place on 26 September. Good luck!
