The Department of Education Services in partnership with CayMusicA – Starlight Programme hosted a Music Workshop and Concert on Tuesday, 26 May at John Gray High School, bringing together approximately 100 students from six government schools and one private school.

During the workshop, students took part in instrumental lessons across woodwinds, strings, brass and percussion, while also gaining the exciting experience of performing together as one combined ensemble. Sessions were led by Starlight instructors Fran McConvey and Mike Glavin, with support from primary school teachers and JGHS advanced students.

The event aims to strengthen the future of instrumental music programmes as students transition into government high schools.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants who contributed to making this event a success, and congratulate each student on their outstanding performance.

The Department of Education Services proudly congratulates all students who participated in the National Children's Festival of the Arts (NCFA) Final Concerts!

The celebrations began in Cayman Brac on 2 May, where students from Layman Scott High School and Creek and Spot Bay Primary delivered outstanding choir, steel pan, and solo performances.

The showcase continued in Grand Cayman, with final concerts held at the Harquail Theatre on 7 and 8 May. Audiences were treated to spectacular solo performances in piano, singing, and drama, alongside impressive duets, instrumental ensembles, and school choirs across Grand Cayman — including platinum award-winning Theoline McCoy Primary School, who closed out the second night with two stunning performances.
