A Special Interview with Latvia 🇱🇻
The anchorwoman and sworn translator Joelle A. Aziz had the great honor today of interviewing His Excellency Mr. Gerard Renaud, Consul General of Latvia to Lebanon.
It was a truly insightful and engaging conversation, offering a closer look at Latvia, its culture, diplomacy, and the strong ties between Latvia and Lebanon.
Every interview is special in its own way, but some conversations leave a particularly lasting impression. 🇱🇻✨

We were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Sandra Koussa Saba, who introduced us to the remarkable biodiversity of the Horsh Ehden Nature reserve Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve and the dedicated efforts to preserve and protect this unique natural heritage. As part of this memorable visit, we planted a cedar tree in the name of the H.E. Gerard Renno, Consul General of the Republic of Latvia to Lebanon and on behalf of the Consulate General, accompanied by The artist Mr. Bernard Renno, Consul’s assistant Ms. Jana Neaime and Mr. Charbel kiwan- a lasting Symbol of friendship and connection between our communities.
Our journey continued through the heart of Ehden, accompanied by Mr. pierre Douaihy Pierre Douaihy , President of “For Zgharta Zawieh “ For Zgharta , and Mr. Badaoui Douaihy. We walked through the fabulous El Midan, visiting St Mama’s church, considered the oldest church in Lebanon, and paid a visit to St. George Church, where the body of the Hero of Lebanon, Youssef Bek Karam, rests alongside the relics of Blessed Patriarch Estephan Douaihy.

The day came to a beautiful close with a very special Lebanese lunch at Al Wadi Restaurant — a perfect taste of the warmth and hospitality of Ehden. 🇱🇧❤️

Looking for the perfect postcard to take home?🏠
You notice a black cat on a rooftop, the Freedom Monument holding three stars, a rooster, and other familiar symbols and landmarks appearing again and again across different postcards.
But have you ever stopped to wonder what they actually mean? What is their history, and why were they chosen to represent Latvia?
Sometimes, we recognise a landmark without really knowing what it represents beyond simply being “a Latvian thing.” So, instead of choosing a postcard based only on what catches your eye, this short guide invites you to look a little overview. Some of the symbols you may come across on Latvian postcards and uncovers the stories and history behind them.
Hopefully, by the end, choosing a postcard won’t just be about which one looks best — it might also be about the story you want to take home with you. 💌
