Brief History of WASCO (1965- present)

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) was first started in 1965 as the Saint Lucia Central Water Authority. The Saint Lucia Central Water Authority was constituted under the provisions of the Water Authority Act. In 1984, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) was established as a statutory body headed by a Board of Directors reporting to the Ministry

of Communications, Transport and Public Utilities. During the existence of the Authority, several projects were undertaken including the construction of the John Compton Dam in Roseau. Lucia restructured the water sector by establishing a new entity - the Water and Sewerage Company, Incorporated (WASCO). WASCO is incorporated under the Companies Act and regulated in accordance with the provisions of the Water and Sewerage Act (2004).

BALATA

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to advice its Valued customers that the water supply has been interrupted in Balata and Ti Morne due to a damaged main.

As a result the areas are without a supply. The water supply will be resorted as soon as repairs are completed. However, it may take a few hours as supply and pressure normalize and in some cases customers at the extreme ends of the network and at high elevations may still experience difficulties which will be addressed as pressure normalize.

Cap Estate

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to advice its Valued customers that the water supply has been interrupted due to a faulty pump at Cap Gate.
As a result Cap Estate is without a supply. The water supply will be resorted as soon as power to the pump house has been activated. However, it may take a few hours as supply and pressure normalize and in some cases customers at the extreme ends of the network and at high elevations may still experience difficulties which will be addressed as pressure normalize.

(7,680 ft) along the entire route, started from Wednesday 5th July, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
The supply of water to these areas will not be interrupted.
On Monday 31st July 2017 excavation works will begin on road, drivers are reminded to exercise caution.

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to advice its valued customers in Soufriere Town of an interruption in their water supply on Saturday and Sunday, July 22nd and 23rd respectively from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This is to facilitate maintenance works to Soufriere number one ( # 1) wall tank. Consumers are encouraged to utilize their stored supply taking into consideration the needs of their families and not forgetting their pets. Consumers are also advised that although the system will be reopened as soon as works completed. It may take a few hours for supply and pressure to normalize and in some cases customers at the extreme ends of the network and at high elevations may still experience difficulties which will be addressed as pressure normalize.

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) on Thursday 13th July 2017, held the unveiling of Tete Chemin, Millet Water Supply Relief project.

Under a local contribution agreement between DFATD and WASCO made on September 30th 2015, four communities were identified for back-up potable water supply, based on their geographic location and vulnerability to natural disasters which affected their already limited water supply. The communities are either at the end of a distribution system or have independent supply treatment systems. The four communities selected under this Contribution Agreement between DFATD and WASCO include:

1. Tete Chemin located in Millet, at the extreme end of the Northern Distribution System.
2. Fond Campeche located in Vieux Fort, at the extreme end of the Vieux Fort System.
3. Des Barras located in Babonneau, consisting of an independent water supply system.
4. Darban located in Saltibus, also consisting of an independent water supply system.

On 4th July 2017 The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) held the pipe laying ceremony for the Babonneau Pipe Upgrade. The aim of this project is to replace the current 6 inch water pipes with a 10 inch pipe from Hill 20 treatment Plant to the Water Storage facility at La Croix, as a step towards enhancing the water security and reliability of the community of Babonneau.

CUSTOMER NOTICE

SYSTEM SHUTDOWN

The Water & Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to inform the public that it will be undertaking maintenance work on the raw water line from the John Compton Dam to Theobalds Treatment plant at Ciceron TODAY, Wednesday, May 24th, 2017.
Therefore, the system will be shutdown from 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 24, 2017. The Northern part of the island served by the John Compton water supply system will be affected.
The water supply may be restored at or before 6:00 a.m. TOMORROW Thursday May 25th, 2017. When the supply is restored, it will take up to 48 hours for the supply and pressure to normalize. WASCO therefore advises all customers to store water to prevent the hassle caused by a lack of storage.

WASCO deeply apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and continues to seek the fullest cooperation of all our valued customers.
