Babonneau Constituency Council To Deepen And Extend Democratic Participation And To Put Local Communities In Charge Of Their Destinies; Socially And Economically.

Over The Years, The Operations Of Local Authorities Were Perceived As Ineffective And Inefficient And This Led To The Suspension Of Local Government Elections In 1979. After This Interim, Councils Were Appointed By The Central Government To Conduct The Affairs Of The Ten Statutory Prescribed Town And Village Council. At Present, There Are Now 15 Local Government Councils Which Operate Under The New Legislation Of The Constituency Councils Act
