ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අපනයන වර්ධනය වේගවත් කිරීම සඳහා වරාය සහ සැපයුම් දාම (logistics) ක්ෂේත්‍ර ශක්තිමත් කිරීම 🇱🇰

2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 15 වන දින වරාය සහ සිවිල් ගුවන්සේවා අමාත්‍යාංශයේදී පැවති, 2026-2030 ජාතික අපනයන සංවර්ධන සැලැස්ම (NEDP) ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම පිළිබඳ ඉහළ මට්ටමේ සාකච්ඡාවකට සහභාගී වීමට ලැබීම සතුටට කරුණකි.

වරාය සහ සිවිල් ගුවන්සේවා අමාත්‍ය ගරු අනුර කරුණාතිලක මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවති මෙම සාකච්ඡාව, අපගේ ජාතික අපනයන අරමුණු සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වරාය, සමුද්‍රීය සහ සැපයුම් දාම (logistics) ක්ෂේත්‍රවල දායකත්වය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කළේය.

2030 වන විට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අපනයන අගය ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 36 දක්වා ඉහළ නැංවීම සඳහාත්, කලාපීය සහ ගෝලීය වෙළඳපොළට සේවා සපයන තරගකාරී සැපයුම් දාම සහ දැනුම මත පදනම් වූ අපනයන කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ස්ථානගත කිරීම සඳහාත් මෙම NEDP සැලැස්ම මගින් උපායමාර්ගික ජාතික රාමුවක් සපයනු ලබයි.

වරාය සහ සැපයුම් දාම යටිතල පහසුකම් වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම, වෙළඳ පහසුකම් සැලසීම (trade facilitation) වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම, සම්බන්ධතාව සහ අපනයන භාණ්ඩ ප්‍රවාහනය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම සහ කලාපීය සමුද්‍රීය හා සැපයුම් දාම කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ හැකියාවන් සංවර්ධනය කිරීම මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡා කෙරුණු ප්‍රධාන ක්ෂේත්‍ර අතර විය.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා අපනයන සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලයේ (EDB) සභාපතිවරයා ලෙස, NEDP හි උපායමාර්ගික ප්‍රමුඛතා මැනිය හැකි අපනයන ප්‍රතිඵල බවට පරිවර්තනය කිරීම සඳහා ශක්තිමත් ආයතනික සම්බන්ධීකරණය, කාලෝචිත ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සහ EDB, වරාය සහ සිවිල් ගුවන්සේවා අමාත්‍යාංශය, වරාය ආශ්‍රිත ආයතන සහ අනෙකුත් පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් අතර සමීප සහයෝගීතාවයේ වැදගත්කම මම අවධාරණය කළෙමි.

රාජ්‍ය සහ පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් සමඟ පුළුල් ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව, ආසියානු සංවර්ධන බැංකුවේ (ADB) තාක්ෂණික සහාය ඇතිව, කර්මාන්ත හා ව්‍යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ මඟ පෙන්වීම යටතේ EDB විසින් මෙම NEDP සැලැස්ම සකස් කරන ලදී.

Strengthening Ports and Logistics to Accelerate Sri Lanka’s Export Growth 🇱🇰

It was a pleasure to participate in a high-level discussion on the implementation of the National Export Development Plan (NEDP) 2026–2030, held at the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation on 15 September 2026.

The discussion, chaired by Hon. Anura Karunathilaka, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, focused on strengthening the contribution of Sri Lanka’s ports, maritime and logistics sectors towards achieving our national export ambitions.

The NEDP provides a strategic national framework to increase Sri Lanka’s exports to US$36 billion by 2030, while positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive logistics and knowledge-intensive export hub serving regional and global markets.

Key areas discussed included enhancing port and logistics infrastructure, improving trade facilitation, strengthening connectivity and export cargo movement, and developing Sri Lanka’s capabilities as a regional maritime and logistics hub.

As Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), I highlighted the importance of strong institutional coordination, timely implementation and close collaboration between the EDB, the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, port-related institutions and other stakeholders to translate the NEDP’s strategic priorities into measurable export outcomes.

The NEDP was formulated by the EDB under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), following extensive consultations with public and private sector stakeholders.

Strengthening Sri Lanka’s Position in Global Supply Chains 🌏

It was a pleasure to participate at the Colombo International Maritime & Logistics Conference 2026, during Session 5: “Is Manufacturing Sustainable or Is Services the Game Changer? Connecting to Global Supply Chains – The Pragmatic Decision.”

The discussion focused on an important question for Sri Lanka: How can we leverage our strategic location in the Indian Ocean, strengthen manufacturing and services, attract investment, and connect more deeply with global supply chains to accelerate export growth?

As Sri Lanka works towards greater export competitiveness, stronger international linkages, value addition and investment-led growth will be essential to building a more resilient and globally connected economy.

Advancing Sustainable Trade Through Stronger Global Reporting Standards

I was pleased to sign a strategic multi-year cooperation agreement between the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to strengthen sustainability and impact reporting across Sri Lanka’s export ecosystem.

This partnership will support Sri Lankan exporters, particularly SMEs, in building their capacity to understand and communicate their economic, environmental and social impacts in line with internationally recognised GRI Standards. Through tailored interventions, reporting clinics, digital learning and technical knowledge exchange, we aim to help exporters respond effectively to evolving sustainability requirements across global value chains.

Building on our previous collaboration in the Textile and Apparel sector, this agreement will extend sustainable reporting practices to other priority export sectors and strengthen alignment with national and global disclosure frameworks, including Sri Lanka’s National Green Reporting System (NGRS) and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.

Aligned with the National Export Development Plan (NEDP) 2026–2030, this partnership marks an important step towards enabling Sri Lankan exporters to demonstrate credible, transparent and authentic sustainability practices while strengthening their competitiveness in international markets.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නිර්මාණශීලිත්වය ලොවට ගෙන යාම 🌏

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පොහොසත් ශිල්පීය උරුමය සහ නිර්මාණාත්මක කුසලතා ගෝලීය වශයෙන් තරඟකාරී වෙළඳ නාම බවට පරිවර්තනය කිරීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා අපනයන සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය (EDB) විසින් මෙහෙයවනු ලබන ජාතික මුලපිරීමක් වන Creative Sri Lanka 2030 හි 2026 අදියර දියත් කිරීම ගැන මම සතුටු වෙමි.

මෙම වැඩසටහන අපනයනකරුවන්, කුඩා හා මධ්‍ය පරිමාණ ව්‍යවසායකයින්, ශිල්පීන්, නිර්මාණකරුවන් සහ විශ්ව විද්‍යාල පෞද්ගලික අංශය විසින් මෙහෙයවනු ලබන කුඩ ආකෘතියක් හරහා සම්බන්ධ කරන අතර සාම්ප්‍රදායික ශිල්පීයත්වයෙන් ජාත්‍යන්තර වෙළඳපොළට ශක්තිමත් මාර්ග නිර්මාණය කරයි.

කුඩා වෙළඳ නාම 10 ක් සහ කුඩා හා මධ්‍ය පරිමාණ ව්‍යවසායකයින් 50 ක් සමඟින්, වැඩසටහන සැලසුම් සංවර්ධනය, ධාරිතා වර්ධනය, ජාත්‍යන්තර වෙළඳපල සම්බන්ධතා සහ ගෝලීය වෙළඳ ප්‍රදර්ශනවලට සහභාගී වීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කරනු ඇත, එයට 2027 දී ෆ්‍රැන්ක්ෆර්ට් හි ඇම්බියන්ට් ද ඇතුළත් වේ.

පළමු අදියර දැනටමත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික වෙළඳ නාම පහක් ජාත්‍යන්තර නිර්මාණකරුවන් සමඟ සම්බන්ධ කර ඇති අතර ජර්මනිය, ඩෙන්මාර්කය සහ එක්සත් රාජධානියෙන් අපනයන ඇණවුම් ජනනය කර ඇත.

2030 වන විට අපගේ නිර්මාණාත්මක කර්මාන්ත සඳහා නව අවස්ථා විවෘත කිරීමට, අගය එකතු කිරීම ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 36 ක අපනයන අභිලාෂයට දායක වීමට Creative Sri Lanka 2030 සමත් වනු ඇතැයි මම විශ්වාස කරමි.

Taking Sri Lankan Creativity to the World 🌏

I was pleased to welcome the launch of the 2026 phase of Creative Sri Lanka 2030, a national initiative led by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) to transform Sri Lanka’s rich craft heritage and creative talent into globally competitive brands.

The programme connects exporters, SMEs, artisans, designers and universities through a private sector-led Umbrella Model, creating stronger pathways from traditional craftsmanship to international markets.

With 10 umbrella brands and 50 SME suppliers, the programme will focus on design development, capacity building, international market linkages and participation in global trade fairs, including Ambiente in Frankfurt in 2027.

The first phase has already connected five Sri Lankan brands with international designers and generated export orders from Germany, Denmark and the UK.

I am confident that Creative Sri Lanka 2030 can unlock new opportunities for our creative industries, strengthen value addition and contribute to Sri Lanka’s US$36 billion export ambition by 2030.

As part of our awareness campaign, we are proud to collaborate with SriLankan Airlines, our national carrier, to take the Sri Lanka Expo message to the world.

2026 අගෝස්තු 19 වන දින කොළඹ සිනමන් ලයිෆ් හි පැවති පාලම් වෙළඳපොළ: හොංකොං-ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙළඳ සහ ආයෝජන අවස්ථා විවෘත කිරීම සම්මන්ත්‍රණය සහ ව්‍යාපාර ජාලකරණ රාත්‍රී භෝජන සංග්‍රහයේදී “ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අපනයන පරිසර පද්ධතිය, ආයෝජන වාතාවරණය සහ වෙළඳ දැක්ම” යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ විශේෂ දේශන පැවැත්වීමට ලැබීම සතුටක්.

Strengthening Sri Lanka–Hong Kong Trade & Investment Partnerships 🇱🇰🤝🇭🇰

It was a pleasure to deliver special remarks on “Sri Lanka’s Export Ecosystem, Investment Climate and Trade Outlook” at the Bridging Markets: Unlocking Hong Kong–Sri Lanka Trade & Investment Opportunities Seminar and Business Networking Dinner, held on 19 August 2026 at Cinnamon Life, Colombo.

The event brought together over 100 Sri Lankan exporters and business representatives from sectors including Apparel, ICT & Software, Gems, Tea, Food, Boat Building and Handicrafts, creating a valuable platform to explore new trade, investment and market access opportunities.

I highlighted the importance of positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive and reliable trading and investment destination, while strengthening connections with Hong Kong as a gateway to Mainland China and wider Asian markets.

Strong international partnerships are essential to opening new markets, attracting investment and creating sustainable opportunities for Sri Lankan enterprises.
