The International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances ✊

On August 30th, the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, we remember all those who went missing and support their families.
Enforced disappearance is a terrible crime that leaves families in continuous pain, searching for answers. Demanding truth and justice is not just about solving the past it is about protecting human rights and freedom for everyone today and in the future.

Every missing person deserves to be remembered, and every family deserves closure. Let’s stand together to demand justice and end enforced disappearances for good.

International Day Against Nuclear Tests

'There are explosions that last a second, and there are explosions that continue for generations.'

On the International Day Against Nuclear Tests, the world remembers the invisible scars left by the moments when humanity turned the earth into a laboratory for destruction. From the deserts of Nevada to the atolls of the Pacific, nuclear tests once painted the sky with terrifying beauty; mushroom clouds rising like monuments to human power, while beneath them lived people who would inherit the consequences.

The stories of Hiroshima - Nagasaki remind us that nuclear weapons are not merely numbers on military documents; they are names, photographs, empty homes, and unfinished letters. The Marshall Islands too, carries memories of islands transformed by testing and communities displaced from their ancestral lands.

Sri Lanka, though never a nuclear testing ground, belongs to a world whose oceans, atmosphere and future are shared. Radioactive fallout does not recognize borders.

Perhaps the greatest lesson is this, true progress is not measured by how powerfully humanity can destroy, but by how wisely it chooses to preserve.

A silent sky should never have to become the shadow of a mushroom cloud.

*"It is time to abolish human exploitation once and for all and to recognise the equal and unconditional dignity of each and every individual."*🤍👥
_- Audrey Azoulay (UNESCO Director-General) -_

Today we commemorate the millions who suffered under the brutality of the transatlantic slave trade, and honor those who resisted oppression and fought for freedom.✌🏻🕊️

This day is a reminder that human dignity, equality and rights are for all. Let us learn from history and not discriminate. Let us stand up against all forms of exploitation, injustice and dehumanization. 👥✍🏻
May memory guide us to create a world of freedom, respect and humanity. 🤝🌎

*Beyond the Ashes: A Lesson from Hiroshima 💣🥀*

"The world has achieved brilliance sans wisdom, power sans conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants."
- General Omar Bradley

What has war truly given humanity?
Did anyone really win?

Perhaps Hiroshima itself is the answer. On 6th August 1945, the atomic bomb LITTLE BOY devastated Hiroshima, reducing much of the city to ashes and leaving generations to carry the weight of trauma, grief and loss.

It stands as a reminder that while humanity races towards technological advancement, we must never lose the values that make us human.

Let us always choose peace as one human family; No second thoughts on that!🙂‍↔️🩶
