LLA B**g Administrator Leads Landmark Survey for National Convention Center in Suakoko.
In a step toward fulfilling a major national development promise, the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), working closely with B**g County authorities, has successfully concluded a week-long land survey of 50 acres in Suakoko District l, earmarked for the construction of a National Convention Center by the Government of Liberia.
The exercise, which spanned several days and concluded at the weekend, forms part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s 2023 campaign commitment to establish a modern convention center in Suakoko, B**g County; designed to host national, regional, and international events while stimulating local economic growth.
The survey brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including technical staff of the LLA, the B**g County Administration, the General Services Agency (GSA), members of the media, traditional leaders, and residents of surrounding communities. B**g County Superintendent Hawa Norris, along with other local and district authorities, was present to demonstrate county-level support for the project and to ensure transparency throughout the process.
At the center of the exercise was B**g County Land Administrator Amelia Cassell Massaquoi, whose leadership continues to draw praise across the county and beyond. Despite being the youngest land administrator to serve in B**g County, Massaquoi has, in a relatively short period, distinguished herself through professionalism, diligence, and a firm commitment to land governance reform.
At the end of the survey at the project site, Mrs. Massaquoi explained that the primary objective of the extended survey was to legally secure the land and eliminate any future disputes that could hinder construction.
“This process is about safeguarding government property and protecting community interests,” she said. “By properly demarcating and documenting this land, we are ensuring that the government can move forward with construction without conflict, while also giving confidence to investors and development partners.”
She noted that preparatory work for the survey began as far back as 2024, involving community consultations and technical assessments. According to her, the week-long duration of the survey was deliberate, allowing surveyors to work thoroughly and engage residents at every stage.
Massaquoi emphasized that the proposed convention center has the potential to transform Suakoko District and the wider central region by attracting visitors, boosting small businesses, and creating employment opportunities for local residents. She also commended community members for their cooperation, describing the entire exercise as peaceful and well-coordinated.
Superintendent Hawa Norris, in remarks at the site, praised the LLA and the B**g County Land Office for what she termed a “clear demonstration of effective collaboration between national and county institutions.” She described the convention center project as a major milestone for B**g County’s development agenda.
Meanwhile, local resident Ezekiel Boimah, who supervised the land brushing activities at the site, expressed gratitude to the LLA, the B**g County Superintendent’s Office, and the Government of Liberia for initiating what he called a long-awaited project.
“This convention center will open doors for our people,” Boimah said. “It means jobs, business opportunities, and recognition for Suakoko District. We are grateful and we want the government to fully implement this project.”
He also called on citizens to support development initiatives and to work with authorities to ensure that such projects are successfully completed.
As B**g County continues to navigate land administration challenges, many observers see the Suakoko convention center survey as a testament to the growing impact of youthful leadership in the sector. With Administrator Queens Cassell Massaquoi at the forefront, B**g County’s land governance efforts are increasingly being viewed as a model of transparency, community engagement, and forward-looking development.
