A Historic Step Toward Protecting Women and Girls:

On November 25, 2022, during the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in Sonkay Town, Montserrado County, Chief Zanzan Karwor, Chairperson of the National Council of Chiefs and Elders of Liberia (NACCEL), announced the closure of bush schools and the abolition of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) practices in Montserrado County beginning January 2023.

During the event, then Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor commended Chief Karwor’s leadership, called for stronger action to end FGM nationwide, and presented him with a token of appreciation. She also encouraged him to engage traditional practitioners across Liberia and advocate for the passage of legislation outlawing FGM.

This milestone remains a testament to Chief Karwor’s commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of women and girls in Liberia.

Exactly one year ago today, on March 3rd, 2025, the heartbreaking news of my father, Chief Zanzan Karwor’s passing spread across social media — from family and friends to radio stations and live broadcasts. It was a day filled with confusion, pain, and countless phone calls, as I had to confront and clarify the rumors that my father was still alive.

Today, by the grace and mercy of God, we give Him all the glory. God rescued my father, and he is alive and healing. What was meant to bring sorrow has become a testimony of faith, hope, and divine intervention.

Long live Chief Zanzan Karwor. Long live his enduring legacy and the lasting impact he continues to make on Liberia and the world at large.

We love you today, and we will love you forever. 🙏❤️

On Feb. 17, 2026, international gospel artist Semah Weefur ministered in song for Chief Zanzan Karwor with “Lord, You Are the Most High” and a beautiful Bassa Gospel song. It was truly anointed and full of God’s presence.

He also prayed for Chief Zanzan Karwor, and they shared such a touching and blessed moment together.

Chief Zanzan Karwor delivers a powerful statement at the 2020 Anti-SGBV National Conference under the theme “A National Call to Action: Inclusive Involvement to Fight R**e and SGBV in Liberia.” The conference brought together national leadership and key stakeholders, including then President His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah and Her Excellency Madam Clar M. Weah, alongside government officials, cabinet members, partners, and invited guests, united in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in Liberia.
