A REJOINDER: ON UNFOUNDED ALLEGATIONS AND THE UNITY OF PURPOSE
The attention of the Youth Congress of the Unity Party, District #9, Chapter, has been drawn to a reckless and inflammatory public statement issued on February 5, 2026, by one Daniel Trokon Bestman, who purports to speak for District #9, Montserrado County. The statement, riddled with personal attacks, speculative accusations, and a clear intent to sow division, is rejected in its entirety. It represents not the "views, hope and aspirations of the people," but the desperate machinations of an individual pursuing a personal and destabilizing agenda against the fabric of our party and the Rescue Mission government.
Below is our point-by-point rebuttal and our resolute position:
1. On the Fabricated Crisis of Competence and Credentials
The malicious assertion that Inspector General Agatius Coker is unqualified due to his academic background is not only an insult to his person but a deliberate misrepresentation of public service. Leadership and effective oversight, particularly in a regulatory role, are built on integrity, managerial acumen, and the ability to enforce the law—not solely on a specific technical degree. The Inspector General's record of service and his commitment to revitalizing the Inspectorate at the Ministry of Mines and Energy speak louder than this cheap attempt at character assassination. We stand firmly by his appointment and his capabilities.
2. On the Manufactured "Conflict of Interest" and Loyalty
The entire premise of Mr. Bestman's argument is constructed on a foundation of bad faith. His attempt to create a scandal around Comrade Coker's alleged political affiliations is a transparent diversion. Our focus is on governance and delivering for the Liberian people, not on policing the private political associations of competent officials, provided they execute their public duties with fidelity to the government's agenda.
It is the height of irony that the author speaks of "divided loyalty" while himself engaging in actions that fracture party unity. We note that other political parties have recently taken decisive action to expel members for disloyalty and collaboration with rival parties. While we are a party of inclusion, we warn that any actions calculated to undermine the Party and the government from within will be met with appropriate disciplinary measures.
3. On the Timing and the Real Agenda
This attack is not coincidental. It comes at a time when the opposition, having nothing constructive to offer, intensifies its criticism of the government's legitimate efforts. Their narrative, which attempts to dismiss the Rescue Mission's progress, is now being dangerously echoed from within our own ranks by individuals like Mr. Bestman. His statement serves only to amplify the opposition's false claims that the government is failing to deliver tangible results.
This is not a call for accountability; it is a politically motivated ambush designed to weaken the government ahead of the critical second half of its mandate. We are half-way to 2029, a period that should be used for solidifying our bases, not for self-inflicted wounds. Mr. Bestman's actions are a gift to our political adversaries.
4. Our Stance and the Path Forward
The Unity Party and the Boakai administration will not be distracted by sideshows. We are focused on the solemn business of governance—addressing infrastructure needs, fostering economic growth, and combating corruption as a systemic issue, which is measured by improvements in the daily lives of our citizens.
Therefore:
· We unequivocally reaffirm our confidence in Inspector General Agatius Coker and urge him to continue his work with diligence.
· We condemn in the strongest terms the divisive and unauthorized statement by Daniel Trokon Bestman. His actions are repudiated and do not reflect the position of the Unity Party leadership.
· We call on all partisans to remain steadfast and united. Publicly airing fabricated grievances plays into the hands of those who wish to see the Rescue Mission fail.
· We remind all that internal party mechanisms exist for genuine concerns. The choice to instead launch a public, inflammatory broadside reveals a motive that is antithetical to our collective good.
The Rescue Mission continues. We will not be derailed.
Signed,
The Unity Party Youth Congress, District #9, Chapter
