EMMANUEL K. BARNES, THE ASSISTANT LABOR MINISTER, PLEDGES TO PURSUE UNFAIR LABOR CASES
Emmanuel K. Barnes, I., the designated Assistant Labor Minister for Planning and Manpower Development, has committed to pursue all incidents of bad labor in Liberia.
"We are prepared to pursue poor labor practices everywhere; we will not simply wait to be notified of them," he declared.
He revealed this information on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his confirmation hearing of Deputy and Assistant Ministers of labor in the Liberian Senate on Capitol Hill.
Barnes also revealed that in order to guarantee improvements in the labor sector, regular oversight and assessment of different organizations and concessions collaboration in other counties will take place.
The seasoned politician, administrator, and economist observed that throughout the previous eight years, many individuals doing comparable job functions had seen differences in pay and benefits between local and international employees.
He claims that the local Liberian workers are primarily impacted by the concerns with benefits and compensation disparities.
"I will work in consultation with the deputy minister for planning and manpower development, the labor minister, and all stakeholders to ensure that the repeated labor violations in the country are curtailed and decency comes to our workforce," stated the Assistant Labor Minister for Planning and Manpower Development in closing.
