President Boakai Relieves Ambassador Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh of Duties

June 8, 2026

Executive Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has relieved Ambassador Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh of his duties as Ambassador-at-Large for Special Duties and Special Presidential Envoy, with immediate effect.

In a communication dated June 8, 2026, President Boakai informed Ambassador Kouyateh that recent events arising from public statements attributed to him concerning the Honorable House of Representatives, coupled with subsequent communications received from that body expressing a Vote of No Confidence in his continued service, have created circumstances requiring presidential attention and action.

The President emphasized that the success of Liberia’s national development agenda depends on constructive engagement, mutual respect, and effective collaboration among the three coordinate branches of Government.

The Liberian Chief Executive noted that the implementation of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development requires strong working relationships among national institutions in pursuit of the common good.

The solar energy farm recently commissioned by President Boakai will cover power needs in the dry season, while hydroelectricity handles the rainy season. That kind of planning sounds very intentional.

NATIONAL PORT AUTHORITY OF LIBERIA
Performance Report Highlights
LIBERIA

A nation that controls its gateways controls its destiny, that’s why ports are the arteries of economic power, and where trade flows efficiently, prosperity follows.

RESET STRATEGIC PLAN 2025–2030
THE DAWN OF A NEW PORT ERA

NPA Reforms
How the National Port Authority is rewriting the rules, reclaiming its sovereign mandate, and repositioning Liberia as the strategic gateway of West African trade and maritime dominance.
Under the visionary and transformational leadership of Managing Director Hon. Sekou Dukuly, the National Port Authority has entered a historic phase of institutional rebirth, operational modernization, and national relevance unprecedented in recent decades.
With the courage of a reformer and the discipline of a statesman, Hon. Dukuly is steering the NPA through a decisive era of accountability, infrastructure renewal, and economic nationalism. His administration is not merely managing ports — it is rebuilding national confidence in public sector governance and restoring Liberia’s maritime prestige on the regional stage.

The RESET Strategic Plan 2025–2030 stands as a bold declaration of intent: to transform the National Port Authority into a modern engine of economic growth, regional commerce, and sovereign competitiveness.
Through strategic reforms, strengthened operational systems, enhanced transparency, and aggressive institutional restructuring, the NPA is reclaiming its rightful place as the heartbeat of Liberia’s trade economy.

Across the maritime sector, the impact of Hon. Sekou Dukuly’s leadership is being felt with unmistakable force. From the ports of Monrovia to Buchanan and beyond, a new culture of performance, discipline, and patriotic service is emerging, one rooted in results and driven by national purpose.

History will remember this period as the turning point when the National Port Authority rose from stagnation into strategic prominence, powered by courageous leadership and a renewed vision for Liberia’s economic future.
Today, the NPA is no longer simply operating ports, it is shaping the destiny of a nation and positioning Liberia as a commanding force within the maritime architecture of West Africa.

In 1988, Arsene Wenger discovered George Weah while he was playing for Tonnerre Yaoundé in Cameroon 🇨🇲 and arranged his £12,000 transfer to Monaco.

At the time, Paul Biya was the president of Cameroon.

Years later, George Weah became the president of Liberia 🇱🇷, left office, while Paul Biya is still the president of Cameroon.

Samuel D. Tweah, Jr. spoke emotionally as he mentioned the confidence he has in the jury and judge.

He stated that when he saw nine of the fifteen jurors voted no guilty in his trial, he thank God he was born a Liberian, and he wept.
