FOREIGN MINISTER SARA BEYSOLOW NYANTI REAFFIRMS LIBERIA'S ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY AGENDA AS ARAB COORDINATION GROUP DEEPENS COMMITMENT TO STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS ....
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has reaffirmed the Government of Liberia's commitment to economic diplomacy as the cornerstone of the country's foreign policy. She made the remarks during a high-level meeting with the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) following the delegation's participation in the inauguration of the Bangu–Salay Road Project in Lofa County.
Minister Nyanti emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains focused on attracting investment, mobilizing development financing, and strengthening international partnerships that support Liberia's economic transformation. She noted that diplomacy must produce tangible results by creating jobs, expanding investment opportunities, and improving the lives of Liberians.
Highlighting President Joseph Nyuma Boakai's proposed Omega Market Project, the Foreign Minister described the initiative as a flagship program designed to empower women traders, strengthen small businesses, and promote inclusive economic growth across the country.
She also commended Liberia's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Amara Soko Sackor, for his efforts in advancing Liberia's economic diplomacy agenda and praised the Arab Coordination Group for its continued partnership and commitment to the country's development.
Speaking on behalf of the Saudi Fund for Development, Chief Executive Officer Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad reaffirmed the institution's commitment to Liberia's long-term development. He announced that the Saudi Fund has committed approximately US$50 million to support Liberia's national electricity expansion project and revealed that another member of the Arab Coordination Group is prepared to provide matching financing.
Al-Marshad also confirmed the Saudi Fund's interest in reviewing the feasibility study for the third phase of the Konia–Voinjama Road Project, underscoring the institution's continued support for improving Liberia's transport infrastructure.
Representing the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Director General Fatima Alnaqbi described Liberia as a valued development partner and expressed the Fund's readiness to support the national electricity expansion project through coordinated financing. She also highlighted the Group's interest in expanding cooperation in education, youth empowerment, skills development, private sector growth, and trade and investment promotion.
Regarding the proposed Omega Market Project, Alnaqbi said the Fund looks forward to receiving the Government's feasibility study for consideration under its private sector financing window.
Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar, reaffirmed the Fund's longstanding partnership with Liberia and identified a priority water sector project for possible financing, subject to Government prioritization and the successful completion of the Fund's appraisal process. He also emphasized the importance of coordinated financing among Arab development institutions to maximize development impact.
During the discussions, members of the Arab Coordination Group encouraged Liberia to deepen its engagement with additional Arab financial institutions, including the Islamic Development Bank and other specialized development and investment institutions, to broaden opportunities for development financing and private sector investment.
The meeting concluded with the Government of Liberia and the Arab Coordination Group reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in support of Liberia's ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
Both sides pledged to continue working together to advance investments in infrastructure, energy, human capital, private sector development, and other priority sectors that will drive sustainable economic growth and improve the well-being of the Liberian people.
