โ€œThere came a time in our history when some of our own Kissi people said that a Kissi man was not fit to be President. Others argued that it was not yet the right time for a Kissi man to lead the nation.

They fought us, suppressed us, and attacked us. But fortunately for us, and contrary to what they thought and said, we have a Kissi man serving as President of the Republic of Liberia today, and he is performing exceptionally well.

As a Kissi community, we are very proud. Whatever President Joseph Nyumah Boakai is doing today reflects not only on him as an individual, but also on his tribe and our people.

Therefore, we must continue to hold together as one people.

To everyone we may have offended while supporting the presidency of President Boakai, we say we are sorry. And to those who also offended us while pursuing their interests, today, on behalf of President Boakai, we say you are forgiven.

Let us put the past behind us and continue to work together in peace and unity.

The Kissi land must keep holding together.โ€

Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin, Minister of Local Government, speaking to residents of Foya Statutory District and the wider Kissi community.

_Local Government Minister Says Donation Aims to Ease Transport and Improve Livelihoods in Lofa County

By: Staff Writer

FOYA, August 7, 2026- There was excitement in Foya District this week as Minister of Local Government, Hon. Francis Sakillah Nyumalin, donated 30 motorbikes to commercial motorcyclists and residents, a move many say will ease transportation challenges and boost livelihoods in the border district.

The donation was made during a brief ceremony in Foya and is part of ongoing efforts to support mobility and economic activity in communities where road conditions often make travel difficult.

According to details released, 15 motorbikes have been allocated to commercial motorcyclists in Foya. These will be shared among the different motorcycle bases operating in the district.

The remaining 15 motorbikes are earmarked for selected residents. The names of those beneficiaries have not yet been announced. Local authorities say details on the distribution of the second batch will be made public in the coming days.

For many in Foya, motorcycles are a critical part of daily life. Beyond moving people and goods, they serve as a primary source of income for young people and are often the fastest way to connect villages, markets, and health centers.

Residents and riders who received the first set of bikes expressed gratitude, saying the donation will help strengthen transportation services and create more economic opportunities.

โ€œThese bikes will not only make it easier to get around, but they will also help us feed our families,โ€ one commercial rider said.

Minister Nyumalin, who hails from Lofa County, said the donation reflects governmentโ€™s commitment to improving livelihoods at the grassroots level.

He noted that in areas where roads are poor or transport is limited, motorcycles play a key role in keeping communities connected and economies moving.

The Minister urged beneficiaries to use the motorbikes responsibly and for productive purposes that benefit both families and the wider community.

District officials said a transparent process will be used to identify the remaining 15 beneficiaries. They added that monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to ensure the motorbikes are used for their intended purpose.

For now, the donation has brought renewed hope to Foya residents who see improved mobility as a direct path to better access to markets, schools, and health services.
