On Saturday, January 31, we climaxed our training for 100 Ministry of Commerce Inspectors by certificating the last batch of trainees. Indeed, it was a very rewarding experience sharing knowledge and insights while learning from those in the field. On Wednesday, January 28, we concluded the training the first 50 out of 100 inspectors of the Ministry of Commerce on the Legal Mandate of the Ministry, the laws underpinning the Liberian Consumer Protection framework as well as various Business Laws of Liberia.

At the close of the ceremony, Hon. Tarnue Jeke, Deputy Minister/Administration of the Ministry of Commerce, Hon. Miantor Gbatu, Inspector General of the Ministry of Commerce and Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala handed out certificates of completion to the deserving participants.

During the second day of the capacity-building training for Commerce Inspectors, Madam Patience Randall, Director General of the Liberia Business Registry, encouraged participants to remain transparent and vigilant in the ex*****on of their duties. She emphasized that the Government of Liberia is actively working to address existing challenges.

Feedback from participants was strong and centered on practical ways to overcome bureaucratic obstacles in order to improve compliance among businesses.

Delivering the opening remarks, Hon. Magdalene Dagoseh, Minister of Commerce, encouraged participants to fully engage, enhance their skills, and embrace the responsibility of effective public service. She emphasized that good governance requires knowledgeable, capable, and empowered civil servants, and reaffirmed the Ministryโ€™s commitment to partnering with local institutions to deliver high-quality results for the country.

Speaking on behalf of CELARD Executive Director, Madam Diana Moore-Kerwhen, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, CELARD Legal Consultant, thanked the Ministry of Commerce for believing in homegrown expertise and for affording Liberian professionals the opportunity to impart knowledge to its staff.

CELARD, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), is pleased to announce the commencement of a comprehensive one-week capacity-building workshop for 100 Commerce and Industry Inspectors, designed to strengthen Liberiaโ€™s commercial governance and consumer protection landscape.

This intensive training will equip inspectors with practical skills in inspection planning, compliance monitoring, documentation and reporting, ethics and integrity, stakeholder engagement, and the application of Liberiaโ€™s commercial and consumer protection laws. Drawing on CELARDโ€™s decade-long expertise in institutional strengthening and governance reform, the workshop combines expert-led instruction, case-based exercises, and hands-on demonstrations to enhance professionalism, accountability, and regulatory enforcement within the national inspectorate system.
