- JECS LAUNCHES A PUBLIC EXPENDITURE TRACKING AND RESEARCH SURVEY IN LIBERIA's EDUCATION AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION SECTORS (OCT. 2025).....
PERTS for short, is a Legislative Project designed by the Joint Education Committee Secretariat of the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia (RL); that is intended to independently Trace and Track Expenditures from both the Government of Liberia (GoL) National Budget, and that of Development Partners.
The Project also conduct Research to determine these priority needs with in the Sectors for urgent and necessary Legislative Interventions.
The Chairpersons, and members of the Legislative Committees on Education and Public Administration from both the Liberian Senate and House of Represetative ; decided to jointly perform their entrusted Over-Sight function.
In this direction, the Joint Education Committee Secretariat was formulated, with the constitutional mandate to assist in providing Technical and Research Coordination and support to the Lawmakers on the Over-Sight Committees on Education and Public Administration at Liberia's Parliament.
The Project aim at providing first hand information that will assist the Lawmakers efficiently and effectively carry out their Over-Sight responsibilities.
Since it's establishment on April 10, 2021; the JECS has performed key activities in the Educational Sector, with results and feedbacks that are gradually contributing to the
growth and development of the Sector.
Activity (s) include:
1. Education Budgeting Training for Lawmakers (2021)_ UNICEF's Sponsored.
2. Legislative Assessment of Government of Liberia (GoL) run Educational Institutions from Early childhood Education to Universities, includingTechnical and Vocational Programs (2021)_ Major Education Actors.
3. Enhancing Access and Retention to Quality Education through Dialogue and Stakeholder's Engagements (2022)_ UNICEF's Sponsored.
4. Public Expenditure Tracking Survey (PETS) (2022)_ UNICEF's Sponsored.
