On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2026, this is a joint German-French social media communication in selected countries worldwide.

Imagine spotting a rusty tanker off your coast. Russian oil onboard. What you can’t see: These ageing vessels leak, collide, and vanish without a trace. When disaster strikes, the beaches and fisheries of your country pay the price, not Moscow. Port bans for uninsured tankers and mandatory safety checks can stop this. By weakening the shadow fleet, we strengthen freedom and security.

“Germany stands for fairness, reliability, and trust- and for partnership shaped by cooperation and shared responsibility.”

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier

In uncertain times, wouldn’t it be a good idea to stick together⁉️

At a time of growing uncertainty in international relations, Germany positions itself as a fair and dependable partner. Commitment to international law, trust, and future-oriented partnerships remains central to its engagement with partners around the world.

“We do not seek the smallest common denominator, but the greatest possible shared space for shaping the future.”

On 22 January, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung and German Ambassador Dr. Jakob Haselhuber inaugurated the new County Hospital in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County. On a surface of 9,000 m², it comprises 11 buildings and serves a population of up to 200,000 citizens. The design, planning and construction were undertaken in partnership between the governments of Liberia and Germany. Welthungerhilfe implemented the project on behalf of KfW, Germany's Development bank.

Grand Gedeh is one of eight sites in Southeast Liberia where Germany cooperated in strengthening health services and rehabilitating existing structures. This assistance and its funding is a further example of solidarity of Germany's government and people with Liberia and its citizens. We are proud and grateful that we can contribute to everybody's health in that region of Liberia.
