The National Auxiliary Montserrado Chapter of the Citizens Movement for Change strongly condemns the unfortunate, reckless, and disrespectful statement made by Moima Briggs-Mensah in which she described our political institution as “criminals managing criminals.”
Such a statement is not only irresponsible but also an insult to the thousands of committed partisans, supporters, youth, women, and national leaders who continue to work tirelessly for democracy, accountability, and national development. Political disagreements should never be reduced to insults and character assassination. We believe that public officials, especially lawmakers, should promote issue-based politics instead of inflammatory comments intended to create division and tension among citizens. Liberia’s democracy requires mature leadership, respect for opposing political views, and constructive engagement.
The National Auxiliary Montserrado Chapter remains committed to peace, unity, democratic participation, and the vision of building a better Liberia for all citizens. We therefore call on Hon. Moima Briggs Mensah to retract her statement and extend an apology to the institution and its members who were deeply offended by her remarks. We also encourage all political actors to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes national unity and political tolerance, especially during this critical period of our country’s democratic journey.
The National Auxiliary Montserrado Chapter will continue to stand firm in defending the integrity, dignity, and reputation of our political movement against any form of misrepresentation or public disrespect.
