INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE BY THE POLITICAL LEADER AND STANDARD BEARER OF THE MOVEMENT FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (MOVEE), H.E. AMBASSADOR DEE-MAXWELL SAAH KEMAYAH, SR.
July 26, 2025
My Esteemed Members of the National Executive Committee, All Other Officials, Partisans, Well-wishers, Sympathizers and Friends of the Movement for Economic Empowerment-MOVEE and Fellow Liberians At Home and Abroad:
On this monumental occasion marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Day, we extend heartfelt greetings and warmest wishes to you and all Liberians, both at home and abroad. This day presents a solemn opportunity for us to celebrate not only our national sovereignty but also to reflect on the sacrifices made by our forefathers in ensuring that we proclaimed our independence as a Republic and People. Let us remember the enduring spirit of those who laid the foundation for Liberia’s Independence, which was defined by courage, resilience, and an unbreakable commitment for freedom and all other rights relating to human dignity.
Fellow partisans and Liberians, let us celebrate this 178th Independence Day in honor of our forebearers, who defied the odds to pave the way for the liberties we should have been enjoying today, but unfortunately, find ourselves in current conditions and dispensations, otherwise as a country and people. Their determination serves as a powerful reminder that peace, unity, comprehensive justice for all and national pride must always remain at the core of our collective identity, even in these very difficult times of extraordinary trials and tribulations in our beloved Country, Liberia.
As the Political Leader and Standard Bearer of the Genuine New Insurmountable Movement For Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) - The Orange Revolution, we reaffirm our unreserved commitment to the core values that define our Republic; including, but not limited to unity of purpose, democracy, justice, human rights, freedom, rule of law and equal opportunities for all. We remain fully committed to the ideals and principles of genuinely and impartially upholding peace, unity, reconciliation, democracy, freedom, transparency, accountability, development, rule of law, justice and equal opportunities for all in Liberia. The Theme for this year’s Independence Day, “One People, One Destiny: Healing the Past, Building the Future”, speaks profoundly to the moment Liberia is faced with.
Let this 178th Independence Anniversary imbue in us the need to choose unity over division, reconciliation over resentment, peace over chaos, constructive engagement over confrontation, freedom of political association over persecution because of political association, political tolerance over political intolerance, equal and impartial justice for all over selective justice, freedom of speech over suppression, genuine transparency and accountability over political witch-hunt and persecution, equal opportunities for all over discrimination and forward-looking vision that prioritizes the rights and well-being of all Liberians, irrespective of political, religious, social, economic, ethnic and geographic background.
We are of the strongest conviction that by genuinely adhering to the tenets of democracy and the ideals and principles that informed and characterized the July 26, 1847 Declaration of Independence; as a Government, nation and people of today, we can overcome and end the relentless political witch-hunting, persecution because of political association, injustices and other unwarranted and well calculated avoidable adversities of today and lay the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow for Liberia and the Liberian People.
To the executives and partisans of the Genuine New Insurmountable Movement for Economic Empowerment - MOVEE, I express my deepest gratitude to you all for the trust and confidence you continue to repose in me as your Political Leader and Standard Bearer. It is an honor I carry with utmost humility and resolve to keep directing the affairs of our party. I cherish and appreciate all of your support towards me, My Beloved WIFE, Rev. Mrs. Dialokai Golanyon-Kemayah, Children and Family in all aspects. Let us all continue to work side by side in sustaining the gains our party is making within the country’s political landscape.
Fellow Liberians, as we celebrate this Independence Day, may we, despite this unprecedented period of adversities in our Country, do so with a deep sense of renewed courage, resilience and hope to redeem Liberia for a better future. Let it be a day, not only for festivities, but for sober reflection on how far we have come, where we are as a nation and how far we are sincerely willing to go together as one nation, indivisible.
Happy 178th Independence Day!
Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr.
